Well I didn't really want to post something negative like this on here but feel I need to as I think my constant being on here of late and obsessive stream viewing is not normal I have had a really tough last year or so, I lost my job in a career which I have been in for over 20 years mid lockdown through no fault of my own as I was on a fixed term contract and all funding and recruitment ceased due to Covid. Since then I have struggled being locked in alone for getting on for a year finding it impossible to get a job and have had bouts of gambling and drinking to excess again during this which I thought was a part of my past. Being completely isolated and alone in circumstances like these whilst already having mental health issues has been very tough and isolating. I have always avoided social media as it is not my thing so I suppose I can blame myself in a way for being digitally isolated. I decided after watching Pauls streams for years and reading the forum from the early days to finally join TGC recently due to my extreme loneliness and seeing a forum I felt would be fun to be involved with. I have enjoyed it a lot since I joined but I find myself being conscious of the amount of posting and time I have spent here since joining especially after watching hours of late night streaming and knowing my life needs something more. I am not sure where I am going with this just I felt like saying something to someone. I have decided to now severely limit my gambling stream watching and limit myself to reading not posting on here. Thanks to all the TGC folks who made me feel so welcome and best of luck with any punts you have!

Back in 2000 I returned back to Scotland having spent a few years in Dorset where I had been engaged to an English girl, it wasn't a bad breakup but I took it terribly and felt hopeless at that point. Through self pity I attempted to drink myself out of a problem, my next love appeared quickly in the form of FOBts and online gambling. Within 6 Months I managed to get my hands on every form of credit including credit cards, payday loans, high levels of debt with online retailers... every fucker who would give me credit. Within a year of breaking up with my fiancee I was broke, NOTHING! except 28k of debt, refused to turn my mobile on as the creditors were calling me at every hour chasing payments, I ended up having to declare myself insolvent resulting in a Scottish trust deed where I sat with fuck all for years on end. I met my wife during the dark years and never had enough money to take her out for a decent meal or a night on the town, It was miserable and I'm still feeling the pain many years later. If I could wind back the clock and change things I certainly would. I see big time similarities in what I went through and what you could end up going through!, you can't be trusted with cash at the moment mate, it could be years down the line till you are in a better place. You have to speak to someone!, you can't wait to get hold of that tax rebate to spend it. You come across as someone who is at their lowest at the moment, your fiancee leaving you has affected the way your thinking!, throw booze and gambling into the mix and you end up with a walking wreck. It's as if your driving towards a brick wall and are unable to take your foot off the accelerator, you have to act NOW, no more feeling sorry for yourself. Speak to someone, phone GA, chat with the members on here but for fuck sake shake yourself down and face your demons. Either that or you will be taking your next bird to Wetherspoons with a voucher cut out the local paper just as I had to a few years ago. I'm not being a prick my Irish friend but I think your needing a kick up the arse. Much Love.

Thank you so much @Blacko , you are noway being a prick and yes I need kick up the arse. I have gone a month not drinking so I always thought I didn't have problem drinking . Now i couldn't even survive 4 days out of my 10 days challenge I posted here . Somehow now developed alchol dependency too. Our HSE ( NHS Equivalent ) has free counseling for staffs with addiction which is totally independent of where I work and our privacy is respected, that is going to be my first step when this Level 5 lockdown is over in Ireland . I definitely realized that self challenges or setting online limits not going to help me . As you suggested what I really need is professional help , which I will get as soon as its available. Can't disagree with that mate , feel like you are inside my brain . Constantly checking my bank account but hopefully I wont blow it all drunk . Gonna pay some debts straightaway before anything. We are in the exact same boat trust me hhaha, I have this app thing, and it's like a line of credit but you can only buy items, anything from clothes to food shopping so its really done me good and i just keep paying it off when i have some spare cash, it's only 150 quid, but gets me through and not having to eat so many packets of noodles lol. I don't give a flying fudge if these people call us pussies for having emotions, clearly, most of us have issues some form or another and some times it just gets too much and like old mate said throw in gambling and booze, it's a recipe for disaster. I need to take a page out of my own book and listen to my own words, easier said than done though hey mate.
