In this review I’m going to be looking at an absolute classic slot, one that 99% of all slot players will have played at some point, the one and only Raging Rhino by WMS who are now known as Scientific Gaming. This slot for many years was at the pinnacle of online high variance games, if you wanted the chance to win a huge sum of money for your stake this was one of the handful of games that had the potential to do so. Slot Description
Raging Rhino has a 6 reel by 4 row setup and 1024 ways to win, it’s basically the same as any 243 ways slot but with 4 rows instead of 3. There are no base game features and the only reason I’v ever played this game is for the freespins, the reason being the wilds give a multiplier of 2x or 3x during the feature and can land on all 4 of the middle reels, this gives you the chance for a huge multiplier and if you’re lucky enough to get a rhino either side of them your win is going to be huge.
To get the feature you need to land at least 3 of the diamond scatters for 8 freespins, it’s worth noting that the award for landing one on every reel and getting the full compliment of 6 diamonds is worth 1000x your stake! It’s also worth noting you probably have more chance of finding a rhino in your back garden than this happening but it is still technically possible.
During the freespins you can retrigger an unlimited amount of times for landing 2 or more scatters, the amount of spins awarded is the same as the base game trigger apart from 2 which gives you 5 extra spins. Now once your feature is over, if you haven’t won at least 10x your stake you get a bonus guarantee which top’s it up to 10x, this is exactly the same in Raging Rhino’s sister game Montezuma, opinion’s are very divided amongst players on this feature of the game but at the end of the day at least you can’t get a zero paying feature which Iv had many of on other slots!
Raging Rhino Paytable
The paytable in Raging Rhino is dynamic and adjusts with your bet size, the example’s below are based on a £2 spin and working from the lowest symbol to the highest you can see the award for 6 of a kind ranges from 2.5x to 3.75x your stake for any of the non premium symbols. As there are 4 rows on this slot you can get combinations of a few symbols in one spin so it tends to add up and make the wins a bit more respectable, especially if you get some multiplier wilds in the bonus!
The premium symbols shown below award between 5x for the honey badger and crocodile, 6.25x for the leopard and gorilla and a whopping 7.5x for the rhino. Now these might seem rather poor pays but the symbols are stacked on all reel’s and you can get some huge multiples of each symbol, the rhino for example can land 3 symbols on reel’s 1 and 6 and with 4 of the 3x wilds this would give you 729 ways at 7.5x which is 5467.5x your stake, you would then also get at least 81x whatever other symbol was taking the 4th position on reel 1! Not bad aye!
Final Thoughts On Raging Rhino
Raging Rhino has an RTP of 95.91% and it’s firmly in the high variance category, it can be a frustrating game at times when you don’t get the big combo’s of premium symbols but at the same time it is a game Iv played for many years and I’m sure I will continue to do so.
