With the World Cup looming in on us, it seems apt to review one of the latest slots from Nextgen games, Top Strike Championship. Iv played lots of football slots over the years and to date none really stand out apart from the Sensible Soccer one which isn’t brilliant but I was a fan of the game as a youngster and it has the potential for you to win a 1000x in the bonus round which was enough to keep me interested. It was also one of the first games I ever played where you could buy the bonus, a feature that seems to have caught on with the likes of Extra Chilli and White Rabbit from BTG, anyway I digress, lets see how this plays.
Slot Description
Top Strike Championship has a standard 5 by 3 reel setup and you play with a fixed 20 pay lines. There are no base game features and your aim is to land at least 3 of the world cup scatter symbols to get the freespins bonus. Once you’re in the freespins there is another feature that can be won by landing a golden ticket on the last reel. This freezes the freespins and takes you into a treble bet bonus where you are shown 3 games and have to pick the winner of each game, this can award between 5x and 14x your total bet. If you manage to pick all 3 winners then you move onto the knockout stage where you have to pick a winner in 4 matches, this can award between 20x and 150x depending how many winners you pick.
You can see a result above where I got to the final stage and won all of them leading up to it, 219x is nice but I don’t really see what more potential this game has as I selected all the teams correctly.
Top Strike Championship Paytable
The paytable below is for the base game and the wins are displayed in terms of coins which can be slightly confusing for newer players. If we take 5 of a kind of the aces for example it lists 200 coins, if you were playing £1 a spin that would be a coin value of 5p as theres 20 lines giving you a win of £10 which is 10x, unfortunately it doesn’t show you coin value so you need to work it out yourself. You can also see there is a huge premium for landing the wilds or the top strike symbol, the latter paying 75x for 5 of a kind and the wild paying 125x for a full line.
The next paytable is for the freespin rounds where we have no 10’s through to Aces, instead we have a whistle, some football boots and a pair of goalie gloves. The daft thing is they all pay less than the standard non premium symbols and even the premiums which now sport different colour shirts also pay less, however they pay more than before for 4 of a kind. It’s an incredibly strange paytable and I have no idea what logic they have behind this!
Final Thoughts On Top Strike Championship
Top strike championship has an RTP of 94.99% and I would class it as medium variance with quite low potential for big wins, you of course have the chance to win 2-300x like I did but again more often than not you’re going to be in the 30x region from a feature. The graphics were okay and it played smoothly on desktop and mobile formats, as a fan of football I liked the treble bet feature and overall it was enjoyable to play.
