Overview Of RIP City
Hacksaw Gaming’s latest release is based in a back alley with a one eyed cat called Ross and an alcoholic, cigarette smoking mouse called Maxx. I’m not sure what to make of that theme so lets take a closer look and see if its a winner!
Slot Description
RIP City is a 5 reel, 5 row slot with 19 Fixed Paylines. The game has 2 Free Spin bonus features and that’s it! No over complicated features, just simple but effective mechanics.
- Wild Symbol – The Wild symbol is present in the base game and both bonus rounds and can land on all 5 reels.
- Ross Symbol – Ross can land on all 5 reels and expands down to the bottom of the reel it lands on, each space it covers counts as a Wild symbol. If when expanding Ross covers a Wild symbol it multiplies that reel by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x or 200x. If more than 1 reel have multipliers they are added together before the wins are calculated.
- FS Scatter – Land 3 Scatters to enter the Ross Bonus Round with 10 Free Spins or land 4 Scatters to enter the Maxx Bonus Round with 10 Free Spins.
Upon landing 3 Scatters you enter the Ross bonus round with 10 Free Spins as shown below. During the bonus round the Ross symbol and the Wild symbols are more likely to land than the base game. Landing 3 Scatters during the bonus will give you 4 extra spins and landing 4 Scatters during the bonus will award the Maxx bonus when the Ross feature is completed.
Landing 4 Scatters awards the Maxx bonus round with 10 Free Spins as shown below. During the bonus round you can activate reels by landing a Ross Symbol, once a reel is activated it guarantees a Ross symbol to land on that reel for the remainder of the spins, all 5 reels can be activated! Landing 3 Scatters during the bonus will give you 4 extra spins.
RIP City Paytable
The paytable in RIP City is dynamic and changes with your stake, the example below is set to £/€1 per spin. We start with the 10’s and J’s which both pay 5x stake for a full line, the Q’s and K’s pay 7.5x and the A’s pay 10x respectively.
Moving onto the premium symbols we have the Bananas and Skull Candle both paying 15x stake for a full line, the Dice and Smiley Face both pay 17.5x, the 8 Ball Heart pays 20x and the Wild and Ross symbol pay 25x stake respectively. With a 200x multiplier just 1 line would pay 5000x stake!
Final Thoughts On RIP City
RIP City has an RTP of 96.22%, the volatility is rated Medium and the maximum win is 12,500x stake. I would personally rate the volatility as Medium/High from my limited test play but Hacksaw Gaming’s rating is probably more accurate as it’s taken from millions of spins.
My initial thoughts when opening the game were that it looks similar to Chaos Crew in it’s colour theme with the black and white background and the luminous accents. Another thought that entered my mind is whether this game is having a sly dig at another slot provider with its name, it also becomes more obvious when you hit a big win as it cycles through various different images again very similar to the unmentioned slot provider! What Ross and Maxx represent if this is the case remain a mystery for now but focusing on the gameplay it’s a very enjoyable game and one I will certainly be playing myself.
