david1111
Here are the changes that are happening for the big race. Nobody wants too see any horse or jockey injured, but it's the nature of the game. Jockeys do it by choice and you can't make a horse do something it doesn't want to do. For me the national is just another long distance race which has lost most of its kudos Edited October 12, 2023 by david1111
Blacko
Can’t they just abolish national hunt racing, it’s brutal . Seriously would prefer two/three daily all weather meetings than watch the dross served up at the likes of Newton Abbot, Perth etc.. farmers pastime.

I'm with you on the national hunt, but saying that is a cold wet night at Wolverhampton any better with a couple of bookies, leonna mayor, and just @VillaLad there to stalk leonna

Some of these winter NH fixtures have the horses running in bottomless ground, poor things are running on fumes and expected to jump fences as well. More money is needing invested in AW to make it realistically affordable for trainers to keep the stable doors open. Most owners who buy horses end up running them in handicaps on the AW so there wouldn’t be a shortage of runners.

And there are fewer new trainers wanting to enter the industry as its nearly impossible to make a living. Down to money, as always. The prize money compared to other countries is appalling so there's little incentive
