Crypto gambling, a normal punters view.

Hi there boys and girls, the forum seems to be a bit of a ghost town these days but I imagine most of you still drop in every now and again for an update. I’d like to address a subject that we’ve tried to avoid talking about for years on TGC and that is crypto gambling. This is my take on it as a working man with limited money to piss away, not someone who releases daily videos of starting with five figure balances.

Crypto casinos sell dreams to people, they offer the opportunity to win money like you’ve never seen before, slots with multipliers reaching tens of thousands, much much more potential than the old days of playing fruit warp or reactoonz. All you have to do is deposit money and click on the bonus buy button and you’re dreams could come true… it’s as easy as that.. or is it!

Before you even consider playing at a crypto casino you need to have deep pockets as there are fees you have to pay when buying crypto to deposit at the casino, you can forget it if your bankroll is any less than £/€ 100. After depositing you can now look through the vast range of games which are usually reskinned on a weekly basis. Choices, choices.. let’s give this dead canary slot a try. You start off spinning at 20c and quickly die of boredom as the bonus is never landing. Before you know it you’ve bought the standard bonus at €13.60, 5 bonus buys later and you’ve redeposited, now your considering buying the golden canary bonus at €100, maybe I can win my money back 🤔. Next thing you know you have deposited Hundreds of pounds and have only played the first slot.. you get the picture. Don’t be fooled by all this “deposited 50 and won 5k” bullshit, they will NEVER tell you how many bonus buys they have made and will never discuss losses.

Slot designers these days are encouraged by their employers to create fast playing games centred on bonus buys, long gone are the days where you had games such as jumanji or steamtower which were enjoyable to watch. Most slots nowadays revolve around this grid system where you have 3 spins to fill it, boring slots such as the money train series, chaos crew and many, many others. I’ve bought the minimum bonus buy on Chaos crew, it cost me £25.80 and lasted under half a minute. Programmers have also been irresponsible by realising that not everyone can afford to buy the top bonus but don’t worry about that.. just buy the basic bonus and gamble it. Take big bamboo as an example, play that game for more than five minutes and you can bet your bottom dollar you won’t accept anything less than gold spins, this for the most of us leads to purchasing the bonus and gambling till once again you’re in bust town.

Sorry for the rant folks but the reality of crypto casinos needs to be highlighted. If your wealthy enough to sit in the boozer all day and play slots in the evening then I wish you well but to the normal person it can be lethal. @Rocknrolla has just started to stream crypto and even a seasoned gambler like him is already talking about taking a break, that’s reality.

And if you are not from UK this exact same things happens on licensed casinos as well since we dont have any restrictions like UK does. So the problem you see is not really crypto, but the games selection these day, bonus buys and the volatility of the slots in general is what you dont like hardman. But from the prospective of UK players I can see what you mean since you were not able to do that all along.

Like you I bought a ton of bonuses through years now and the best I won was around 1000x maybe twice that I lost in the next couple of buys. All that said I get fucked by playing base games the same way. It just takes few minutes longer to do so. 😂

If you want to enjoy the low volatility games you can still play blueprints, netents and microgaming slots like in the old days like I do these days and mix in some hacksaws in base game of course.

Totally agree with you. I very rarely ever do bonus buys (non-UK) and just avoid slots geared towards bonus buys like that new razor shark game etc. If I can't spin it in, I won't play it. Game play is much better without bonus buys anyway, as the base still has surprises sometimes.

The crypto lot don’t seem to have blueprint games such as Goonies etc.., they have some of the older stuff but it seems like hacksaw release a slot on a weekly basis.. and it’s usually based on the same shite they’ve released before.

I disagreed with bonusbuys being banned and now having played with the freedom to do so I now 100% agree with them being banned! They take all the fun out of the slots and just produce even more tilting scenarios than playing the slot normally. I think this is one of the biggest draws to crypto casinos but once you play them you soon realise the reality and their tilting nature! If you have a limited budget which is pretty much everyone and your verified/feel safe on a ukgc casino then crypto casinos just aren't worth crossing that bridge for!

I understand where you are coming from with this, and I do appreciate that you are in a difficult position (to an extent) with regards to the limits you have UK side (basically nowhere to play), but you must have known that by going over to crypto, that some of your followers would follow suit.

I would be interested to know what this means for yourself as a crypto streamer going forwards - does this mean that you will no longer be buying any bonuses/will be cutting ties with crypto/just playing slots normally, or will you still be buying them and sitting on the fence (this is not a dig mate, this is just how it appears to me and I may be way off). Realistcially its hard as someone who has been a fan of yours for a long time and seen the highs and lows, to understand exactly where you are coming from when you have moved over to crypto after denouncing it for years, are now saying 100% bonus buys should be banned but may continue to do so.

You don't have to explain yourself, you owe me nothing at the end of the day I am just trying to understand the thought process behind it all as it feels very convaluted to me. One minute you are against them, then for them, now against them again but I assume will still be playing there. It is a little bit like you are trying to retain your followers but be reasonable about responsible gaming, which is practically impossible when you are doing the buys/losses that you are posting

Not looking for an argument - just trying to get my head around it

I don't know how long it has been there, but I see @Rocknrolla is now affiliated with his latest site. (It's in the promoted casino page) It says no UK players, but let's face it, he is a UK player himself so in essence is saying it is ok. Sorry to say, but that's me done with the site. Its been a blast, and I have met some wonderful people here. Thanks everyone, see you around.

Sorry to hear that @1pstaker. Hope you will reconsider.  I know there isnt much going on at the moment but you're a mod and  a respected member of the site for all the hard work you have put in over the time.

With regards to the casino, rolla isn't playing from the UK so it's legit.  Saying that I do think some clarification is needed as UK players can obviously use a vpn.

Is this going to screw them over at some point if they go down this route?

It literally says no UK players, and he doesn't play from the UK. Playing with a VPN is a risk much like circumventing GamStop by other means. If you choose to play anyway you've got bigger problems that you need to actually take responsibility for rather than passing the buck elsewhere.

Also not everyone is from the UK. Why can't he tap into the global market? It's not like he doesn't have links to normal casinos for his UK players.

If you choose to leave over this it's sad to see you go, but it's pretty weak mate.

Not every player is U.K. based. Rolla is currently playing in Ireland so not currently a U.K. player.

I understand if you don’t like crypto not everyone does but I don’t think it’s fair to guilt Rolla into feeling bad just because you’ve seen your arse.

he explained before he would be working with the casinos. No one is forced to join up. But at the end of the day it’s a gambling forum and it’s going to have gambling links.

hope you reconsider and stay onboard the forum. I know many enjoyed the racing comps. Not everyone is here for the slots.

Lets be honest here - the casino, and Rolla were fully aware that the intention of partnering with ANY crypto  casino was not because they think he is a good guy or anything like that; it was to utilise him as a promoter based on the number of people who are on his forum and regularly watch his streams/videos and youtube content. They know full well that people are using VPN's to use the site, and for the most part let it go.

@Kings lynn I do agree that this is a gambling forum and no one is forced to join up. The problem (from my side) is that in the past there have been so many arguments on here regarding responsible gaming etc. and doing everything that the mods can do to protect players/stay away from crypto. I remember a couple of years ago (when I had my old account) that there was a community buy-in that was arranged by @Blacko - everyone was going to chip in £50 and split whatever was won (or lost) at the end. The kick offs on the forum were unreal with people saying its not fair on those who want to enter but are on gamstop as they are being given an oppurtunity to navigate around it and this forum is all for responsible gaming etc. In the end rolla covered the cost and gave hackz the money to do a community stream to keep everyone happy.

Now it's partnering with crypto.

In all honest im not too arsed about the crypto thing; its more the way its being advertised on a gambling site that also pushes responsible gaming.

The casinos are not interested in rollas global market. In terms of streamer content, he is nowhere near viewer wise what some of the older csgo players etc. used to bring in. The casinos are specifically using the likes of rolla/bandit etc. to tap into the UK followers.

UK players see the likes of some of the non-uk players on crypto and will think "balls to that, all fake, not intereseted".

They see a couple of respeted UK players do it and think "few quid here and there won't hurt"

I do think that the more we see of the bonus buys the more it will put people off.

We've seen from rollas recent vids that they are brutal and throwing a few hundred quid deposit into these sites is pretty much a waste of time.

For me, I enjoy watching the content from both rolla and bandit,  but if I had any temptation to try them before  then that has well and truly dissipated

Agree (to an extent) but if he had won big, then it has the opposite effect and you and I both know that there are some people on here who would sign up and depositing every single penny they had at it to try and replicate it.

And I strongly believe that K8, along with the other casino that bandit plays at are targetting the UK market. Just because Rolla set up a shell in ireland doesn't make it right. He knew full well beforehand that people from the UK would sign up - and there is nothign wrong with that as long as he is honest about it. Trying to spin it as anything else is bollocks.

Its a real shame that @Denman is not around anymore would love to get his opinion on this

Yeah, both bandit and rolla won big to start with, but as time has gone on the bonus buys are showing their true colours.

I admit some people will sign up and try to replicate the wins, but for me it's done the opposite.

You need the kind of money I don't have to participate anyway imo

Let's look at it a different way, and you don't have to answer if you don't want to.

As a moderator of a forum that has pushed responsible gaming for years (and denounced crypto heavily), as someone who has supported problem gamblers in the past are you happy with the site partnering with a crypto casino.

If was a shock at first to be honest as it went completely against the grain as to what this site stood for.

The site has changed now as you can't promote crypto gambling and responsible gambling in the same breath. They just don't go together.

I'm still here out of my respect for rolla and I will still be here to support problem gamblers if they come on to request help and support

Appreciate your honest and this is the point I have been trying to make all along. This site cannot claim the same reputation it used to have for responsible gambling etc. as due to partnering with cyrpto, all that is out of the window now.

As a gambler, I would have put my house on rolla never selling out. Luckily I struggle to get more than £500 on anything at my local bookies without jumping through ridiculous hoops so the bet never happened

We should remember though that rolla would have never gone this route if it hadn't have been for the ridiculous ukgc restrictions.

To continue in his style of play his hand was kind of forced

That is one point sir that we will never agree on. I understand it, but don't believe it was the right move (personally).

He could have moved to crypto and just not told anyone. He could have moved and not done a deal with a casino who wanted to target his UK audience base/reach.

That's a fair point. Only rolla can answer that one

I play on 2 different crypto casinos, and one of them (the same casinos Bandit plays) even charged me a withdrawal fee $5 up to $10, I am not a fan of bonus buys, the only way I do it is if I am up.. for the past 3-4 month I wager over $70k , bonus I unlock was just over $300, bonus offers are very bad wagering very high...Crypto casinos also push you to deposit more than UK casinos. So when you see 300% 500% bonus offers dont make a deposit thinking you will get 300% on top of your deposit money

Another casino I play has zero-wagering bonus offers I have played there for over a year now I wager over $220k

That's an assumption on your part. What's to say that Rolla isn't drawing in a gradually bigger international audience? He's a lot more well known than you give him credit for.
