I remember that Ritz story from when it happened including the accepted narrative that they were computer aided in some way. I was aware roulette was beatable for some time now based purely on the physics of the spin (and not any betting strategy) but the conditions needed to get an edge were for all intents and purposes not practical. But technology will keep chipping away at that slowly but surely. I also believe this physics method does not rely on any imperfection on the wheel. Yes, the police involvement is quite worrying, I guess when big money is involved it's inevitable, sadly always going to be biased towards the casino's.
