RouletteMonkey 32 Posted February 11 Money laundering is easy, you just give ur dirty cash to someone who's got lots and get them to write you a loan with their clean money The mafia used to get the dirty money from banks which was crisp brand new notes (before serial numbers really came to light) and put them in a dryer with coins to crumple up, hense laundering, they used launderettes as a front also, but the term "cleaning money" comes from the coins in a dryer. You never saw me ...

Did they engage in any meaningful way to try and establish if you were indeed money laundering or did they just pull down the shutters? I always remember the case of Huntington life sciences - the animal rights protesters went after the banks who eventually folded one by one and refused their business. The government had to step in as the bank of last resort in the end because with no banking facilities they could no longer function as a business. But for individuals there will be no such recourse. Hope you manage to get something sorted. Good luck.
Jeroen's Gambling 2 Posted February 13 (edited) This money laundry thing is'nt new. It takes one odd transaction or one odd cash deposit and bells go off. Banks can be fined "huge" if they not done their homework in regards of their customers / clients. If you ask me all this rules is just running insane. I had a client who send me a payment of around 450 euro some years ago. 2 weeks after the payment and asking my client, the bank finally called it in, and asked what it was for. I'm like i'm sorry i'm a enterpreneur for the last 15 years and this is how i do business. There's a invoice and there's communication in regards of doing business. They wanted the client to email the bank with the invoice and identity. So yeah, that client recieved a payment once, from who was on such a list of suspected terrorism financin. My client got flagged and me automaticly with it as well. Thats AI for you. I fudged them off and said really i dont like interference coming from my bank knowing i'm a customer for more then 22+ years by now. Its just the way it is. As of a cash-less society, i hope riots break out for this one. Cash payment is a legal and accepted payment, and people should not just continue to adopt to digital payments. The excuse of money laundry from criminal groups or gangs is used as a excuse, or whenever a ATM is blown up, insurance covers it.. While the tech does exist to protect ATM's or to get a better view on money laundry. They rather let the problems arise and suddenly provide a sollution which is a cashless society. (As if we cant be paid in other goods) Anyway; i hate doing business with banks. They are to serve us but do seem to have a monopoly in regards of financial rules. And thats not fair. Another client of me back in 2021 made 800k by uber eats (delivery). He got contacted and pretty much questioned what that money was for... You gotta be kidding me. It's also not the way accounts are closed. It can be suspended pending the outcome of an investigation. Suspicion alone is not enough to close an account. I suggest you go after them. Ultimately you need to get their reasoning and documentation backing up their claims and put them on notice that you take the accusation quite seriously and that you will be raising a formal complaint through the appropriate oversight authorities, namely, Bank of England (BoE), Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). That should be enough to put the shits up em. In the meantime get yourself an N26 or Revolut Account. Easy to open. Edited March 5 by Danger
