Very sad watch. What must have been going through his mind to make him think that was his only way out. Heartbreaking 😟

Online gambling.... 86% of revenue comes from 5% of customers. Really? That's sounds pretty insane to me.

It's true, problem gamblers sadly. How many fines were given out to companies allowing vulnerable customers to gamble huge sums of money without checks.

A high number resulted to stealing company funds. Stealing from family and blowing inheritances.

I can't watch the video, I know of too many young lives lost to suicide. One young man hung himself from a tree. At the inquest he'd been gambling heavily and in a moment of sheer despair he was gone. I miss him. Feel angry that a young man in his transition into adult life which was already filled with developmental trauma delay was gone. For what.... The addiction that is hidden, secretive and full of escapism.

its a very real and dramatic story that is ubiquitous in the world of todays gambler . Society has been riddled with unscrupulous companies which prey on individuals , and airbrush out the inconvenient truth. Gambling can damage a young mind , destroy families, assassinate self esteem,  and ruin the lives of millions as faceless , and callous people profit at all levels of society , hidden behind a wall of deceit , and malevolent manipulation.

Governments have allowed the gambling lobby to dilute all real truth , as long as the tax money keeps filling the coffers , and greed can enrich politicians and lawyers , on a daily basis. Devoid of any integrity it is a vile and hopeless exposition of todays world . A world of denial, and cruel greed .

That last word hit the nail on the head, escapism. Gambling is a very immediate and accessible form of escapism and that plays a huge part in the formation of many gambling addictions. Many people have activities they do that give them that escape to but its not always easy to do them, it's always easy to open a mobile and load up roulette.

Escapism needed by the individual, caused by the inability to stand alone, and the loneliness associated with guilt , shame , and embarrassment that such tragedy can cause lies and deceit that break our families and generate division and discord amongst us.  Escapism that allows us to deny the truth, to hide the evidence of gambling from those we love ,until it is too late . And then the fall from grace  as ever mounting debts take over our day and cause us to separate from those we love. we become islands of despair , angry and tormented by our own involuntary actions.

The solution is to share the truth , embrace the love of our families and stand firm against the avalanche of greed, and the torrent of false hopes that casinos ply in every moment of the day .Find your path in nature , share your joy with friends .  Make people and laughter the centre of your world and gambling will disappear ....

This is so true. It is very difficult to share that message at times. The inability to stand alone comes regardless of the positive protective factors around us. There is no difference from those who have such factors in their life to those that don't. Gambling addiction becomes an island of despair. The soul becomes less and less and the secrecy becomes ever more. To those who have loved ones and those that don't there will always be a war. Addiction will take over the most rational of minds and devour those more vulnerable.

The bright lights of the city are enticing. A world where the highs and lows all bring dopamine. The highs and lows it brings are a welcome distraction to many for various reasons.

The lows bring a feeling of self loathing, it's like a form of self harm. The highs make you feel incredible.

Gambling responsibly is fun. In no way do I wish to come across as someone that does not respect choice where it is affordable or controlled.

The crypto sites that allow young people to sign up, allow those on gamstop to play are criminal.

Anyone who promotes these sites are vultures

Even as a child the bright lights of the seaside amusements used to grab my attention.

The highs and lows are as you say, but the highs were like a drug, just the feeling of invincibility.

As you will probably know I'm on gamstop, but would not go down the crypto route as I don't trust them. I still receive several weekly texts from non gamstop casinos trying to lure me in which I find disgusting.

At the end of the day it's all about keeping the demons suppressed but we all know they can rise to the surface at anytime which takes huge self control.  🎅

Those seaside lights took me away from a very painful time in my life. I recall being 7 and my father coming to find me late at night having dropped me off there in the morning whilst he went on a bender in Rhyl ....

The lights haunted me into my adult life - escapism.

Keep the :christmas_tree:up.    For I will never look at one and not think of you 🙂

Was pulled out many a caravan site arcade

My old man always said he instantly knew where I was,   70% of the people in the arcade were all standing around one machine admiring the new highest score on Defender - Galaxian - Scramble or Space Invaders

Id lose all awareness of time in those places,  if my old man said be back here at 8pm,  he really meant 19:45

Id feel the big hand on my t-shirt about 21:30
