1pstaker
Not everyone's cup of tea, but my one and only music 'hero' for want of a better term, passed away last night. Meatloaf is with us no more. RIP , keeping rocking as you once told me.

david1111
Heard that this morning. I listen to his music now and again and watch the videos. Still relatively young at 74, but we know he had health issues.

1pstaker
Hope you guys dont mind, but just want to tell a story of how meeting Meatloaf nearly cost me my job! Back in 93 or 94 I was working as a porter at what was the London Studios, or as I knew it then, the LWT building. I got to work just after 5.30am as I was in extra early to do an important meeting set up. In our office, I made a quick cup of tea, and turned the tv on...and there in front of me was news that Meatloaf was going to be on GMTV that very morning. The GMTV studios were a part of that building. Work went out of my mind, and I immediately went to my locker where I had a prized possession that I hadnt got round to taking home...A promotional picture 12" LP sent out by Meatloaf as part of the Bat 2 comeback and given to me by a member of the GMTV team as they knew how big a fan I was. I then proceeded to the 'secret' star exit and sat and waited...It was gone 9am when he finally went to leave, and I got 30 seconds with him, where I asked him to sign my LP "Daniel, Keep Rocking!!! Meatloaf" was what he wrote. I thanked him, and just like that he was gone. At no point do I recall even thinking about work, and I went back to the office with my record and a huge grin...until my boss went ballistic and I suddenly came back to reality Thankfully, I just about managed to hang on to the job, but I wouldnt have cared if I didnt. I had just met my 'hero'. Thanks for reading if you have, Im just feeling a bit soppy as most people keep saying "its just another famous person"...well some of these people mean more to us than others I suppose. 1 1

You must have seen a few legends in ur time working at LWT hardman. An old guy I knew once worked at Pebble Mill, he had a million stories which I think he made up including being punched by Andy Williams and being picked up and carried by Marvin Gaye after the Soul superstar found him passed out drunk. Depends on what you mean by legends...if you talking Brucie, Cilla Black and Michael Barrymore then yes met and spoke to them all!! I'm not really a 'celebrity' type of person too be fair. The two biggest stars I met from a personal perspective was the above Meatloaf encounter and Norman Wisdom. But as I had access to the studios and watched recordings all the time then yes I did get to see a lot of bigger so called stars.
Blacko
Think my claim to fame was having a drink with Andy Williams a while back.

RB91
Michael Barrymore is a really nice guy, I was at his house and he wanted to go in the pool, but I couldn’t swim so he bought be a rubber ring and some arm bands. The rubber ring was handy for weeks afterwards too.
