I met an older couple from London some years back, he was in his 70s and still working as a driver. We were comparing house prices in London to where I live in Scotland, I told him what both my wife and I earned annually and asked him what property we could move to in London.. his answer!... a shop doorway.

We have just been told that we need to pay £100 a month ... We been paying 60 quid a month for around 6 years now. I'm convinced there must be a leak somewhere and we bloody paying for it, but they insist they basing it on the water we have used.

water companies acting like drug lords, they have no other companies to compare, so they charge as they wish, even £60pm is way to much

Depends on your usage and how many people live in your household. It's less than I pay (around £70 month on average)

We had similar when we moved into our house 4 years ago - water bill was ridiculous and i kept complaining - unitied utilities were insisting it was correct.

Woke up one morning and outside of house was flooded and no water out the taps - turned out (after the road was dug up) that there had been a slow underground leak which then collapsed the road, but they could not determine how long it had been going on for. Ended up with United Utilities giving us a very big refund/credit due to them not actually knowing how much they had incorrectly billed us for.

@ISlot that bill you have is excessive mate. Unless someone is using the flat to stream hottub videos on twitch then the numbers are wrong somewhere. Speak to the other flats and see what they are paying - you might find they are not paying anything and you are picking up the bill for a couple of other tenants.

It ain’t just that the water down South is fucking horrible, I don’t know how many kettles I chucked out with limescale when I lived in Dorset.

@ISlot move up to Scotland where we have the best water, tons of water… in fact you will be drowning in the fucking stuff.

Surely for someone who drives a Tesla and lives in central London a £500 water bill is just another deduction from a slot win ?

Water is priced on how hard it is to supply you, my Dad has a 5 bedroom house and his water bill is a quarter of mine, yet i'm in a small 3 bedroom but in a little village.

It's around a grand a year 😞

I am sure I once heard a story about Stuey Unger paying around 2000 dollars a month  and when he mentioned it in passing to somebody they said that was madness and he should have it checked out.  Turned out he had a burst water main on his site  but he was not very aware of what he should be paying and he was playing for huge sums in the poker  and so he just kept paying it
