A serious warning

Good morning guys and gals.

Before I get to the topic I will just give you all a brief update as to why I have been so quiet of late. So going back to the start of last year I suffered a heart attack, living alone I knew what was happening but kind of did not want to admit it hoping it would go away. Long story short, I spoke to someone on whatsapp on the Sunday morning and told them how I was feeling, they made me call 999 and I was rushed into hospital. This was right at the start of the pandemic, loads of tests later and I was informed I needed 2 stents fitted. A couple more days in there and on coming home I find out we are going into lockdown part 1.

So all of the follow treatments etc are being done on the phone, no GP visits, no specialists nothing other than online zoom meetings and phone calls. And pretty much I was in lockdown for 18 months, only recently being given the all clear to go out again. Although I do tend to isolate and stay indoors, when you are actually told you can not go out for 18 months it is a massive issue. I suffer with several mental health issues as well so all of this just added to that.

Moving onto 3 months ago, I got called into see my GP for a medicine check as I had been placed on more since the heart attack, it was decided that because of underlying issues it was best for me to attend the surgery. On doing so I was given blood tests, blood pressure etc. 2 days later a call from my GP requesting I go to see them. Appointment made, GP informs me I have type 2 diabetes. So again more medication and more tests been done, and more booked in to be done. So yeah I kind of took a step back from the gambling world and tried to focus on sorting my lifestyle out.

This was until a few days ago. Thought I would have a flutter as its been a while, started to build up Jammin Jars 2 just on 10p with the plan to raise it up a bit once it was maxed out. So last night with it maxed out I decide to have a fun few spins and see what happens. Well that did not last long, deposit 1 done in record time, deposit 2 did not last much longer. Surely I was due just a normal bonus even if the giga jar is not going to drop. Record after record drops with no sign of giga. Jars everywhere but not a bonus in site, another deposit. Now I am losing track of what I have deposited, try to work it out, shit, I need to raise the stakes if I am just going to recover what I have put in, another deposit. And then............ deposit time, shit the bank has declined it, that can not be right surely? Open a new page, check my bank thinking there is a mistake here? open my online banking and oh my god, its gone, the rent money, gas, electric money gone, bills, shopping shit it has all gone. This can not be right, go back to the casino, check the deposits and fuck, it is right. In the space of 3 hours I have thrown it all in jammin jars.

So to give a little bit of perspective, well over 1000 spins on Max giga, I actually had 32 double jars land before a bonus, and that paid 16x. Records for the giga jar, I have heard it said that it averages a trigger every 10 records. Well until I went bust I have had 42 records and no sign of it triggering.

Let this be a huge warning to you all. I am not looking for sympathy, I put the money in the casino myself, no one made me do it. I will be honest and admit I got caught up in the game, did not realize how much I had deposited. And then it got to the point whereby I felt I had no choice but to deposit to at least make some money back. Not that it really matters, but this was all at LeoVegas.

I have cocked up in a massive, monstrous way. I have 2 weeks to wait until I am next paid. I do not have friends local to ask, and no family either. And to be honest it would be to embarrassing to explain it to them. I have bills due this week. Leccy is not bad but gas is already on emergency. And well the rest? Hey no point in stressing over something I can not do anything about now. So 2 weeks of total shit. In all my life, and I am 50 I have never ever put myself in this position, never have a screwed up like I have tonight, but if just 1 person reads this and stops doing it then I guess it has helped someone.

I am literally writing this moments after busting out, I am now having a cuppa tea and some meds I should have taken last night, that hopefully will knock me out for a few hours and then I will sit down and self exclude from all casino's.

Well thanks for reading, and hopefully 1 person reads this and thinks twice about making that deposit. Not ignoring anyone, but going to try to get my head down for a few hours and will then check back.

These games are downright fucking dangerous, gullible punters can’t walk away till that jars full or the wild swarms last bee lands. In most cases it ends in heartbreak with the exception of bullshit streamers who are either playing on affiliation funds or fake deposits.

I cannot understand for the life of me why people on here constantly complain of the UKGC efforts to protect problem gamblers, it seems game providers are cherry picking at the most addictive factors and piecing them together into a single slot.

Many of us have been down this road. My advice is that you need to get over the shame factor and talk to family/friends about what has happened. Hiding from it will likely only lead to it happening again. Opening up to those close to you will be a relief and not embarrassing so please do it.

Thanks for the replies. I did not want to go down the gamstop route as a love a flutter on the football and thats never been an issue and wont be, but I am currently going through the casinos and self excluding for the maximum time allowed at each one.

Blacko, it is crazy, I can sit here and see the way they are going, its never been an issue until last night and for some crazy reason I still can not fathom i just got caught up in it. And before I knew it wham it was to late and I am now suffering for my huge cock up.

1-staker, to be honest with you I have an incredibly small circle of friends, well that said 1 of them is family and none of them are local to me so actually opening up and talking about it to them is difficult to say the least. One thing I am confident of is this will be the last time I play slots online. I am in the process of self excluding from all the casinos and wont join any new ones as i get annoyed with the verification process. As i said I will not use gamstop or gamban as i want to still have a flutter on the football from time to time. Thats not an issue.

I simply can not allow myself to be dragged into something like this again. As it is I have no idea what I am going to do for the next 2 weeks until I get some money in. So 1 million per cent, the shear disgust and shame I feel right now, throw in the fear of what the hell im going to do for 2 weeks and trust me that is more than enough to make sure i do not ever repeat this.

@Lighty45 Hello mate, from the sounds of it you've been through the mill and had a rough time, although compared to a heart attack a few quid is nothing is it really?

I'm not trying to make light of the situation but I dont think beating yourself up is going to do your blood pressure any good is it, you've realised your mistake and are putting self exclusions on so you're clearly not daft and we've all been there so don't think you're the first to do it!

How's the coin collecting coming on? Maybe move a few on and buy back when your on your feet?

I think Gamstop is the best option here, at least for a 6 Month period. Self excluding from individual sites is futile as there are thousands of them, Gamban is useless.

The fact that you had no control to take your bank balance into consideration suggests compulsive gambling ( been there myself ). Gamstop will shut off any means of online gambling. You can walk down to the bookies if you want a football coupon on, the walk there and back will do ur health good also.

Enough of these fucking daft slots that leave the player dangling on a string. Wild swarm did untold damage to every shit for brains trying to emulate the bandit.

That is the one part of my life that has been going well. Got some lovely pieces now, I am trying to move some on, but they are either to expensive for some people or the others every seems to have. But yes, I am trying to move some on.

Its only money mate. The fact that you survived heart attack, going bonkers and losing some money on slots is nothing. Forget about it and dont stress, its not worth the health. Put deposit limits or just close casino accounts, its simple as that.
When I lose too much over a period of few months and\or is not fun anymore I just put deposit limits on all casinos to €1 so even if I get bored I cant play.

“Gambling should be fun and not a way of investing money.”

Surely these grinding games go entirely against that. That’s exactly what you’re doing when you’re building the Swarm or the Gigajar, or the hearts on Lil Devil. How are these games even allowed?

It's a very dangerous game, took me 1500x and 62 Gold Discs to get Giga Jar, which thankfully paid 1384x, stupidly I've built it again (slowly) but in the last two hour I've lost 500x building Level 4 to Max plus 12 Discs without a single bonus or base hit over 30x, played okay in the base (got okay playtime, by the standards of this game) but must be over 2000 spins without anything noteworthy tr even a crappy 5x bonus. Way too high volatility.

At least he is not in debt from it and It could be a lot worse is what am I saying. He will make it those two weeks until pay. Been in a lot worse situations regarding the money problems and some how made it back up just like probably a lot of people on this forum. Better to not worry about some money than risking his health because of stress.

Not a fan @Blacko? I enjoy the entertainment but given the connection to casino grounds and Leo Vegas I take the stakes with a pinch of salt.

No I am not a fan lad, I have more concern for the OP who will struggle or the next two weeks rather than endorse the Swedish mafia who pump all sorts of shit out at high stakes almost every day of the week.

It's all complete bollocks.

Haven’t gambled since I’ve got involved in crypto. A few % drop doesn’t feel half as bad as dropping 5K on a 94th minute equaliser, likely I will never play slots again what with the way SOW checks are

my money last a lot longer on trading than on gambling

Hard to disagree. I would be happy watching low stakes, which is more relatable to most, if the content is decent. They get €2k per day deposit match bonus from Leo, wonder if I can get the same?? With rtp around 96-97% its actually hard not to win getting that deal!

Got to be honest it was after watching these that I thought I would try to build it.

So the update is I have self excluded from all sites for 5 years. Have put a lot of stuff up for sale, so fingers crossed some money will start to come in.

Thanks everyone who has replied.
