So, iv came on here to see if anyone has ever had a similar situation or if anyone could offer advice.

At the start of April I registered with Gamstop, pretty much straight away all my online sites were closed down.

A week had gone by and I started checking through the apps to made sure they had all been closed and deleted them from my phone.

Ladbrokes seemed to be the only one that failed to closed my account to which the devil on my shoulder appeared and before I knew it £2100 had been deposited. This was over 2 weeks after gamstop was in place.

I then contacted ladbrokes on live chat were I was told that gamstop was active. I then decided to contact their customer support team with evidence of my self exclusion and explain to them that I was still able to access my account along with make deposits.

It was only after doing this that my account was then closed. Although I accept responsibility for making those deposits its frustrating that ladbrokes have failed to comply with rules in place and protect someone who has asked for a self exclusion ban to be put in place.

I have forwarded on all relevant documents to ladbrokes Customer Support team and asked for all deposits made while my ban was on to be refunded back into my account, along with an explanation as to why I was able to deposit in the first place.

Do you think this is a fair request or should I take it on the chin that I have been weak and made the deposits in the first place.

Gamstop is pretty much in place within 24-48 hours. I think Ladbrokes will have to refund your deposits in full as there is no excuse why they shouldn't have you locked out after 2 weeks. Be firm with them and also make gamstop aware of the situation you are in.

You should be refunded. But just remember there will be some twat somewhere who also managed to deposit, won big, and will be fighting for their winnings.

I can confirm that gamstop was in a 3 way email chat between myself and ladbrokes jusy before my account was closed . Gamstop also provided ladbrokes with confirmation of self exclusion being in place. I can also confirm that all my personal details were correct on ladbrokes accept my address but that was the same with most of the online casinos as I havent long moved but certainly email , name and d.o.b were all accurate. I was told by one advisor from ladbrokes that my deposits were made in good will so I refund wouldnt be likely. However I have took this up with a manager but unfortunately still awaiting a response.

I went over to ladbrokes and attempted to join with my brothers address and it instantly informed me of my exclusion so the change of address shouldn’t be an issue for you. Most of these operators are dumb fucks so be patient and wait for the managers response.

Although this is very wrong @Rosequartz11   why did you not take the time to contact Ladbrokes when you realised you could deposit rather than wait until you lost over 2k.   As others have said if you had won big money you would not get paid out as they would have spotted you are on Gamstop as they have now confirmed.   All you have done is to give yourself a problem chasing for your money back.

Get what you are saying but that's the sensible option.

He signed up to gamstop  because he can't control his gambling.

He did his part, Ladbrokes didn't so on this occasion I firmly put Ladbroke in the wrong as they failed to protect someone who had taken steps to protect themselves and were let down

I'm not for one minute saying I'm not in the wrong here so please don't think I am not taking any responsibility. I am a problem gambler which is why I decided to self exclude and register with gamstop. My issue lies with ladbrokes not taking any responsibility in their failure to comply

This of course would have been the sensible option. Its like taking an alcoholic to a pub... sitting a pint in front of them and expecting them not to drink it. I know I have issues with gambling and my first steps to sorting out my issues was to register with gamstop. I messed up but why was ladbrokes the only online casino not to follow their safe guarding policy.  Im a 37 year old women who should have resisted temptations but I don't feel I'm able to at the moment hence why gamstop was in place

No-ones judging you my friend, there's a few (including myself) who have done the same thing themselves before you so don't worry. I expect Ladbrokes to refund you as they should never have let you sign into your account let alone deposit cash with them. Be honest with your partner and tell him you need his support. Your gonna find it tough with gamstop as you will be itching for a bet and the gamstop register makes sure that you cant. Please do not deposit on any unregulated casinos as each and every one of the m is a 100% SCAM, they will take ur money and u will never see it again.

I dont feel any temptation to try and do this luckily. All I want now is refunded for the deposited money then il feel like im able to breathe again lol I have lied to my partner and told him that I put the money into my savings account in the hope that ladbrokes refund it.so I guess if they refuse the refund im screwed. Screwed for playing again and for lying.

Its the gambling addiction that turns us into liars Rose, I lied for years during the dark days. It ain't worth hiding losses from your other half as they find out eventually, the stress of getting to the letterbox or hiding bank statements make life much more stressful than it has to be. You need to speak to him regardless of Ladbrokes decision, you will find ways to gamble if that 2k is easily at your disposal.

This is spot on. @Rosequartz11  your partner is your best friend. Gambling addiction thrives on secrecy. You can't hide this without their support. Secrets fracture relationships. Let him know what you have done. What outcomes you are hoping for. He can support you and help to keep you safe from future relapse.

You're lying and trying to cover it all up and that creates far more hurt than being honest with him. Yes he may well be unhappy and angry to start but better to face that than him discover you have lied. All that does is make him wonder about the relationship as a whole and what was ever real.

Deep breath, sit down and share it with him.

I never said that Ladbrokes were not in the wrong but as I said it would have been a lot easier to contact them and complain about the error where she could log in.   Now she has deposited and is in the hands of Ladbrokes as to when they decide to pay the money back and she could not have won anyway because when she wanted to cash out they would have discovered the problem  and not paid out.

If they can find fault with the registered details she could be in a fight that was not necessary and will only cause a lot of stress

If she cannot resist that temptation  despite being on Gamstop  then why would she have the will power not to log on to a non gamstop site when she wants a bet

I hope it all works out for you .  I have known a lot of people over the years in the same sort of boat including myself.   As Cheryl said you need to get your partner on side because I can tell you it is a hard road to try and do it all yourself.

All I'm saying is that when you're a compulsive gambler logical thinking goes out of the window.

You know what you're doing is wrong, but the urge takes over.

Signing up to a non gamstop casino is a sad reality of compulsive gambling.

There are no judges here . We all are gamblers in various degrees of autonomous disillusion, and have vast experience of online trickery and mischief by various operators.

you are welcome here .
