The people to blame for all these rules is the casinos themselves. If they were more sensible about following responsible gambling then this would never have happened. There is no reason for £40 spins that anyone is able to do. It is also unacceptable that they are partnering with streamers using bonus money to advertise to kids and gamers on twitch/youtube.

So this is the result. It is the casinos own fault. It sucks, but they were so greedy that the government has had to step in. This will get more and more over time. Eventually I would expect £2 cap on slots for example.

Land-based casinos face regulatory action

30 March 2021

FIVE casinos have faced enforcement action following Gambling Commission assessments of their businesses.

All of the casinos were found to have failed to follow social responsibility and anti-money laundering rules set by the Commission and therefore the Commission put their operating licences under review.

Clockfair Limited and Shaftesbury Casino Limited will both pay a £260,000 regulatory settlement, Les Croupiers Casino Limited will pay a £202,500 regulatory settlement, Double Diamond Gaming Limited will pay a £247,000 regulatory settlement, and A&S Leisure Group Limited will receive a warning and pay a £377,340 fine.

Think they went a bit to far , i do find it very intrusive i have already closed several accounts poker/casino related because i feel uncomfortable giving a casino site my bank statements (one wanted access to my bank account through a 3rd party ) , i presume there will be an increase is punters going from online back to land based casinos.

I can go into my local news agents and buy 100`s of scratch cards , then stick a load on lottery then pop into bookies then off to casino with no questions asked   ?  Utter madness !

Great topic.

I am new as well to forum. When does the new regulation definitely get enforced and defined?

Has October definitely been confirmed as the deadline?

do you know if sports betting is also In scope? Betting £2 on football doesn’t seem feasible ....

i also heard that in- play betting may also be cancelled too??

Hey Danny,

We don't know exactly when the new regulation will come into play and be enforced. Some operators are already implementing changes. Entain Group have already started to roll out their new affordability checks across their brands, which include Ladbrokes, Coral, Bwin & PartyCasino; https://www.racingpost.com/news/entain-launches-affordability-checks-it-claims-will-greatly-benefit-racing/481826

We don't know how sports betting will be affected but I think the general feeling is that it will come through this relatively unscathed. The target seems to be more towards online slot and casino games.

My sports account have put a restriction of 500 per month.

This was automatically done without any docs requested.

If I want to increase this i have to send pay slips etc so this is based on affordability and not just a sow.
