I would like to know is it just the gambling industry being targeted for stricter regulation? There are many ways to spend your money online will I have to produce sow documents if I want to buy a load of shares or crypto for example?

I doubt I'll be slotting again in view of restrictions which probably isn't a bad thing as bonanza taken the utter piss recently

Christ I hope so 😂 I’ll probably not gamble much in April though, need a bit of a break.

Bitter sweet really. I'll miss playing it, but won't miss how shit you feel when it rips you.

Maybe best thing for me as playing slots only ends up one way

I'm old school so I like to have total freedom to express myself, this includes the option to lose everything in an evening if I choose too, it's character building having that sort of power over your own life, if you want to be powerless go to prison. - Hackz 2021

Joking aside it's always the minority that spoil pleasurable pastimes by constantly nagging and whining to the operators, a bit like the no smoking rule in pubs, it's a place to go and get legless, who cares about a bit of smoke, it adds to the atmos, it's not supposed to be smoke free, child safe community centre is it.

Well imo that's the same for gambling, its a mans sport, an all or nothing hobby, a cowboy's favourite pastime, not something to made so safe the whole buzz is removed. Anyway, sad times, maybe it's time for me to move to Malta!

Come on, you're running a forum where you had a guy posting a few days ago about how he spent £12k of his partners money without permission, a young woman posting a few months ago about how she was suicidal because of gambling, there have been posts of people who have stolen money to gamble and others unable to feed their children begging for money. Multiple examples on here of the damage that gambling can and does do. It needs to be more sternly regulated.

@Denman I get what you are saying but I personally feel that a problem gambler will always find a way to gamble irrespective of how tight the regulations are and although tighter regs could help a small fraction of people most problem gamblers will find a way around them unfortunately. Which means the vast majority of gamblers who are doing so in a responsible way are negatively affected by regs which ultimately I do not think will help the vast majority of people with real gambling problems. If tighter regs guaranteed an end to all problem gambling I would be on board in an instant but sadly I do not think they will help the people most in need of help.

The Malta bus is coming, all the streamers jumpin,

Yorkshire through to Boscombe

An interstate free disco

The reels of steel are turning, and slot lights are burnin

So if you like to gamble

Get on and move to Malta

I like the changes. For the majority of people, staking more than £1 on a slot is irresponsible and the majority of players will no doubt be people playing higher than they should be.

Agree with what most of what hackz said, but there does need to be more regulation, this should however try to tackle the problem, not drive the problem to unlicensed unregulated casinos. UKGC stance and tactics remind me of many unsuccessful aggressive approaches that rarely fail to deliver what it’s set out to achieve.

Until they bring in some form of education at a younger age regards money and gambling in a school setting I fail to see how they will change anything.

I think all pubs should only serve 2 drinks minimum. Obviously not all drinkers can control theirselves and the misery drinking brings with domestic abuse and families torn apart and the strain it puts on the NHS

I dont think they can blanket limit people to a set deposit amount, its too harsh on the people that can afford a punt and are in control. I do think though that when you sign up being able to prove to a degree what your disposable income is and have a limit set around that would be good. It won't impact anyone who gambles within their means or has control but it will save thousands of people who cany control their urges. If they limited it to £100 a month then I initially thought sweet, I can go online again when I'm off gamstop, however as has already been stated I'd probably do £100 at ten casinos so its not worth it. A measure around that would be to have a central register held by the ukgc of what everyone's limits are and you can spread that across one or 50 casinos if you like, while it would work I think again people wouldn't like that amount of control removed from them. The other issue as is in this day and age it seems that in order to regulate limits individually lots of personal information would be needed to be given to the casinos which I very much doubt many people would like doing. A blanket limit isn't the answer but there has to be a middle ground.

It still concerns me how the FOBTS have been seemingly forgotten about, they are a cancer to society. The last lot of restrictions they put in are shit, its only really saved the roulette players to an extent but there is still that wanky green bar version. Unfortunately the bookies put in workarounds where you can still effectively do the equivalent of £50 spins except they can now rinse you harder. Before I stopped around September I managed my record of over 300 £2 spins before I got the 5 mega spins... £600+ in a fucking FOBT to just have a spin. I've done 1500 in 45 minutes before but the UKGC just aren't doing anything. Fucking ridiculous when they are doing what they are online.

Actually pubs to serve a maximum of a drink. With a blood pressure test upon entry. Blow in a breathalyser on exit and if you are over a certain number you get lined up in a firing squad
