All the best @Miller26😘

I hope you don't mind me jumping on your thread but I never did do an introduction post when I joined... I had a real terrible addiction to fruit machines years ago, basically consumed my life then came along FOBTs.. I gambled every penny I had mostly the same day I was paid. Borrowed money constantly to fund my addiction.. There were times I felt suicidal and desperate to quit... This cycle went on for years. When I found out I was pregnant it changed. I had to put my child first... Didn't stop me having a bet on the horses and odd football bet which I still do. Play poker for fun now too (except for the odd friendly cash game with family) and love a game of bingo. I finally have savings which I've never had before. Despite my love of slots I'm in a fortunate position that I've never played or been interested in online (thank God!). I suppose what I'm trying to say is you can do it, you have support here on the forum and I wish you all the best xxx remember, nobody is perfect, we all make mistakes now and again (including me betting on Arsenal 😂 although I've made 15/20 quid profit the last few games and the time I lost £300 in a Weymouth arcade last summer) xxxx

It is, but that's why we gamble. When it goes the other way we can win more in a few hours than a month working

Speak for yourself 😅 i don't think I've ever won a months wage in a day. Oh wait maybe twice. That's in 20 years though.

Good luck mate but I'm wondering that you haven't written off the loss as your opening post says win something to try and get the money back. This will sound harsh but it's gone and you'll only move on when you accept that.

You might have miss understood what I was trying to say mate .I've definitely written it off and will get it back by saving not gambling. The if I win something part is when I do my 20p lucky 15 s  at the weekend. I'm not expecting much from them 😆

Not at all chrissy . Being honest is the most important thing we can do to warn others of the potential pitfalls of gambling  .

Do you think you have savings because of lockdown or did you have them before ?

Odds on Liverpool scoring a goal versus miller having a winner. Tough call 😂. Btw we are shit atm.

I only started saving a couple of years ago, just £50/100 a month and since Covid a lot lot more... Not buying work clothes, not filling up the car with petrol etc has allowed me to really put some good money away. Plus I can't visit the bingo hall so thats another saving. It's so strange, I never want to touch it once it is transferred to my savings... Years ago I'd not hesitate to blow everything I had and then be depressed until payday! Was thinking about having a goal for something nice but not sure what yet xx

I've found we can become obsessed with saving and find it really hard to spend it .I literally will refuse to pay 10p extra for something I know down the road is cheaper .

Set a goal for the summer to spend some ,maybe a little holiday ?

That's soooo true Miller!! I'd literally say 'I'm not paying £4 quid for a bit of steak' yet used to blow £500 quid in a fobt without a care (until after when the reality set in). Wanted all my money for gambling. Definitely have the savings bug right now but you're right, I should spend some on something nice. Holiday? Maybe.. Not the best with flying and travel (have generalized anxiety disorder and going too far out of my comfort zone can cause panic attacks... That's a whole different story!). Definitely want a new hoover at some point 😂 another plus in my story is my partner hates gambling (even tells me that me spending £2 quid on the lotto is wasting my money and I should just throw it down the drain 🤑🤣) so that also keeps me on the straight and narrow.

Good on you @Chrissy_M for putting your child first and beating this addiction for your child . I know too many addicts at my local casino who have kids and still do their bollocks in on their paydays and cry . You are a strong woman , keep it up girl.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune @Miller26.... nothing I can teach you about loss .... but perhaps the walking you used to do might be of some use before you jump into the fray again. Clears the mind and tunes the body ....

In my younger days I would regularly lose all my money and didn't care a hoot , but age brings wisdom and those I love deserve respect .... and make my life wonderful ... friends and good people, on this site,  are here for you miller .... so REST REST first please ...

A very honest and heartfelt post young lady. I opened up myself a little bit the other night as I felt that we need to let newbies and problem gamblers aware of the pitfalls of gambling as well as the life changing wins. I think it creates an easier atmosphere when someone a little nervous to voice their concerns can read of everyday people who have walked down the rocky road before them.

@Miller26 I know a group of older guys who have lived and breathed racing for many years, these guys are like an older Denman in regards to being encyclopaedic in the sport, among the group are owners, friends of trainers etc.. they all have one thing in common with most of us in regards to them constantly bringing up a hard luck story of the jockey “leaving it too late” or “he hit the front too soon”.

Punters who make a decent profit on racing are extremely disciplined in their approach, they may have 2-3 serious punts in a year, the kind of punter who has their stakes limited almost immediately.

You don’t stand any chance with these huge lists of selections mate, these days I only back Wolverhampton, it’s not the greatest but I enjoy it. You back horses running at tracks I have never heard of... Hippo something or other, where do you even begin to study the form of these races?

Miller, take a little time for reflection my friend, I understand this covid shit is driving us crazy but throwing your hard earned at Bolivian camel racing ain’t gonna make you feel better mate.
