Yeah the limits are essential for a lot of people, but for me they just didn't work.

I felt under more pressure gambling due to restrictions if that makes sense

I agree never used them loss big .time out . Win big time out . Although with the winning it defo is harder . As i recently found out .Ha

My biggest  problem .

It's each to their own isn't it.

Although in hindsight the limits are a good tool for many

As a person who has had problems in the past and have spent so much hard work over the last year  I find it hard to comprehend how you are against setting limits for yourself.   I  am like some others who are glad you got a decent win but was also shocked to see you playing a a 2 pound stake.  If you are just wanting a little fun slotting what is wrong in setting a limit of 50 or a hundred  a week  and playing at low stakes.

People are just worried for the day they come on here and you are in a bad place  because nobody wants to see it.

I admit I was wrong re the limits. The first year of not gambling was pretty easy, but the last month was particularly hard and obviously I did succumb.

It's difficult because as Kev said you need something to look forward to. I don't have any sort of social life or real friends to speak of so this is my vice

I'm determined to keep it fun this time, but I do fully appreciate what everyone has said and the support

Problem is, it's very hard to keep it to just being fun, especially with no limitations. Slippery slope in my eye, id set limits asap to make sure you keep to it.

I think we would love to be able to do this gamble with what you can afford to lose. Keep it fun. Don't chase your losses and all that bollox. I'm sure there must be thousands of alcoholics out there who say to themselves why can't i just enjoy a few pints like everyone else. I truly hope you succeed in what i would ultimately fail and enjoy a dabble without it becoming a problem. You do need something to look forward to in life or else life isn't worth living.

Just try and remember why you gave it up in the first place,  I know it is hard when you are bored and have very little else going on not to want to have that little flutter.   With regards the football I would suggest signing up to fantasy fpl  as you have an interest in footy. May only be a short window for you to pick some Leeds players for your team before they are gone again !

Try and find something to keep you amused  as you must have done over the last year or so  .

It is also another reason to have limits in place so you cannot spin away all day unless you are doing well off a small deposit   we all know the feeling deep down when we have lost too much

.

Be careful mate, £2 ,stake pretty high. I agree with others on the limits, I havent had a bet in a while and today started as a fiver punt led to limit maxed out. Lucky for me only had 2 small limits elsewhere and rinsed them too on crap i never would have done normally. All it takes is one lapse.

There's only one explanation for not having a limit in place and that is being a problem gambler needing to chase losses. All you need to keep in your mind is all those sick sleepness nights you went to bed after doing your bollocks in. Weve all been there. Remember how bad that feels and strive to never get back into those situations again. All can be achieved with responsible limitations on deposits. If you cant control yourself with a limit in place or feel you'd edit it or change it then gamstop for sure while the going is good. #fucktheslots #fuckthefobts

Totally agree 100% great post @howfin !!

of course I also only withdraw 80% of any substantial win so that I can wind down the next day and play some small stake slots , and often repeat the same pattern of win , albeit a lesser amount .  Since I am back at 3 days a week I also get plenty of time to play poker .... and am skillfully  managing to miss all the final tables by losing just after the bubble !!  so my poker strategy needs some amendments !!

My max and new stake is £1 rain or shine .... because you can win very big on some BTG slots with a £1 , and will / may lose 100-200 max , which is within acceptable parameters .

From a man coming back from a gambling exclusion as well - it can be done. Personally, I actually feel happier now than how I felt before I stopped. It's still an ongoing process of control for all of us who have had to step away, but I genuinely think it's possible for some. Well done on the win dude!

Totally agree. I'm relaxed about the whole situation at the moment, but I'm also aware of how quickly things can change, but as you say it's an ongoing process

I actually found getting a few losses on the return helped! Haha, thankfully they weren't too much but I was just like I can't be bothered with doing this too much, and I have like 12 casinos I could deposit on right now and I'm like nah, I don't fancy losing more money right now. Still good fun though!
