I get the impression that's been the whole plan all along, make life so intolerable and joyless that people will do anything for a return to normaility.

I’ve been watching Parts unknown Anthony Bourdain

Even some of the shittiest countries he travels to in the word it’s unnerving how free those countries feel in comparison. even pre covid

far too many rules and laws in this country. Everything you do there’s someone over your shoulder telling you that you can’t.

First day in the covid lab completed and thankfully the NHS run their labs properly and it was nothing like in the panorama doc. Chances are if you in the north west and have a covid test it will be done properly which is a relief. Also got my first vaccine shot today, which was voluntary, and feel totally fine. I got my little bit of card saying I have been vaccinated so that better be good enough to get in the boozer when they open.

How many other labs have you seen in with the same conditions as the one in the document?

None thankfully. I would have reported any lab I worked in operating like that.

Do you know how many private labs and NHS labs there are? I haven't a clue what the ratio is. You effectively wrote off the government data based on the lab shown in the documentary. Ignoring that could be one bad apple, now you've seen a good lab first hand do you have any faith returned in what numbers the government are producing?

I have no idea how many private labs there are and doubt the government knows either, NHS labs they will have an exact figure on but I do not have that information. Nobody other than the government knows where covid tests are being processed and that information at present is not publicly available so no I do not know the proportion of tests done in private labs versus NHS labs.

The private lab featured in the doc was the flagship lab and biggest testing facility in the country and it was shown to be negligent at best and bordering on criminal in my eyes. If I knew the percentages with regards where the data was produced that would inform my opinion with regards the faith I put into it but as I don't I still have to stand by my not trusting the numbers.

Logic dictates the if the flagship lab processing the highest numbers of samples is suspect then the numbers are. Even if it was one bad apple. But if practices such as those highlighted in the doc were present in the biggest lab then it suggests to me they likely happened elsewhere due to pressure's being applied to get the numbers up. I have obviously no proof of that but if standards were so low there it more than likely happened elsewhere within the private sector.

Goalposts keep getting moved, remember when getting a vaccine was the key to our lives turning back to normal?

Now its vaccine passports

Whole thing has been a control grab from the start

My dad keeps calling me an anti vaxer. He is a daily mail reader and a Tory voter so I’m not overly concerned about his opinion

I read today that only 44% of hospital admissions were people who had tested positive for covid. Makes you wonder how many are actually dying because of covid and how many are dying with covid. The ONS 5 year average weekly deaths says it all.

Irish government are asking for figures split between those  who are hospitalised with covid and those that develop it once in hospital

It's very easy to manipulate the figures which our government seem quite good at. I hope your government get the answers.

I think they are realising that a good number of the patients  that  are being reported as having covid in hospital  may be admitted for other reasons    and that people in the general populus may not be quite so at risk of being hospitalised from covid as the numbers being reported may imply

The all cause mortality is the only figure they can't fiddle, it cannot be misreported, misrepresented or misatributed and in Ireland the all cause mortality is down on the 5 year average and in the rest of the UK it's only up 1% and this is with 3 very mild flu season years out of the 5 and who is to say the neglect of diagnosis and treatment of the real killers is what's put it up by the one percentage point.
