What has been your most degen gambling moment

When i think back there has been quite a few.

The one that springs to mind though is when i visited a casino with my mate.

I got paid by cheque as it was 20 odd years ago and also had a bit of cash on me.

I lost all the cash and borrowed the amount of my pay cheque from my mate and lost all that so i signed over my pay cheque to my mate.

So, i lost all my months wages before my cheque even hit the bank!

The late night roller coasters of poker online led me to lose €2000 I had in my bank account. I was playing Spin & Go or something like that at €100 buy-in.

You get depressed and it’s all downhill from there. You don't win anything. Losing and chasing what you just lost.

Losing the money I relied on to live and it altered my mindset. They were dark days and it still runs deep.

I was litteraly bitting myself. You stand there and you realise that it makes no sense doing that.

That was my last night gambling online 6 months ago.

5k in fobt in one hour playing 2 machines at the same time. Also 9k loss in one day betting with phone account with hills. Last bet that day was 2k on a horse called brown teddy i think and i waited for the result on teletext 2003 it lost.

I can see a few horror stories coming out here. At least it's all in the past!

Mine mostly come from FOBT's. They ruined me totally at one point. I done a months wages in a couple of hours and split with my long term girlfriend at the time over it.

I think the worst one though, and the one that hurt the most, was when I done around 5k in a week on Jackpot Joy ?  I got a redundancy payment and although I did get some stuff with it, most went in there. To be fair though, it was that loss that gave me the wake up call I needed, and led me on the path to 'controlled' gambling, and being where I am today with no online accounts, and only betting in the betting shop.

All my days I spent in the bookies were pretty degen. Betting on everything and anything I could get my hands on from the moment the bookies opened till the moment it closed

I'll give you a taste of just a few, probably just say 5 out of 300 bad nights or sessions I've had.

Getting made redundant on my 28th birthday in 2015 with 40 other colleagues, All went to Perth casino and having been bought so many drinks I dropped my wallet drunk at a table with $1300 inside it which got picked up by a man who left the casino before I noticed, then the next day having to go to the bank before I went to the airport to fly out and didn't end up going to the Philippines for my mates daughters special 7th birthday party(really important bday in that culture) on the paid ticket because I was too stressed about being able to access funds on a credit card I couldn't get replaced in time, So waited around for my $27000 redundancy payout to only go to Macau and lost $20k if that in 2 days without barely winning anything. I mean hardly winning a hand at Baccarat or anything. I remember laying back in my apartment in Thailand after that trip and losingmy job, bedridden for 4 days thinking fuck I could of stayed in Thailand for a good 6 months past the Australian summer but had to find a new job and go back to work before Christmas in the 45 degree heat.

The $10,000 I lost in South Korea in 4 days of a 10 day trip in 2017 that I bought chips on cash advance with my credit card and didn't really do any site seeing. That was distressing, wasteful and stupid.

Or maybe the €4000 I lost in 2016 in Barcelona doing €500 Blackjack hands with chinese tourists blind drunk off of casino house wine... was so angry I smashed my phone and couldn't take tourist photos for the following 3 days of my trio

The worst was probably $9000 I lost in just one night in Brisbane straight after quitting a job just to go watch a football match in Adelaide that I didn't even go watch once I got there because my gambling hangover was so bad.

Or not going to the Connor McGregor vs Nate Diaz fight whilst in Vegas coz I lost several thousand and couldn't leave the casino to go watch it in the flesh.

Any more stories you want to hear?? I have too many from all around the world to the point where I'm now broke at 32, in debt, and can barely travel anymore, in a region with no friends or family working a job I do just survive(not thrive from).. went from having 6 properties (mortgaged), several nice vehicles and cash-flow... down to driving a corolla and renting a house because of them wild nights out...

7 months casino and pokie free right now and still struggling to rebuild.

Yeah, know what you mean, same people, bit of banter etc.

Still shit when you walked out potless though

Yeah but not as bad as I feel now just betting online.

Back then I actually handled things differently as the money was actually in my pocket. Betting online I don’t think of it as money as such it’s just numbers on the screen and that’s the biggest problem not just for me but many others I should imagine

So so so many stories! I remember chasing a gold and silver pot on a fobt, gold was at £500 and silver above £400 and back in those days before the £500 guarantees it was fairly rare to see. We were saving for our wedding and I was in charge of the honeymoon and deposit money for the venue, over the next 2 weeks I lost most of those funds at about £500 a day chasing a fudging £500 pot and didn't even hit it, went in one day and some lady bragged how she won it of a £10 note and 50p spins!!! I had to work my ass off to cover those losses 80+ hours a week with sleepins, one week I worked 72hours straight with just 3x 30mins breaks, after this I didn't really touch the fobts again.

Oct31st 2003 whilst my wife was in labour I was in my local arcade with my brick (mobile) switched off playing poker machines at 30p a hand I blew £1800 full months wages and missed my daughters birth.

I was suppose to be fishing I felt like shite having to explain what I did with my wages that was nothing I got home with my mum sitting in the house the only thing she said was (you need to get to the hospital) arrives at the hospital one look from the wife said it all (she knew were I was).

it was another 15 years before I gambled another penny were people go on drinking binges I went on gambling binges yet I find now after a couple of hours playing on line I’m royally bored shitless .

Being £4,500 up after some luck on slots and roulette and poker last November at Blackpool GUKPT.

Ended up thinking £5 spins on Wolf Run was a good idea.  Lost £1,500. Then thinking i had still had three bags and my luck would come back, did two £500 spins on Roulette, pink £100 chips on the layout. Ponies in play etc

Well roulette was -£1000 in two minutes.

Tilted to the extreme left the casino walked back to the Hilton to rue my change in luck. Only came to Blackpool with £1,200 so was still well up given had a monkey in the room safe.

Next day knocked out David Haye in the side event and spent rest of week drinking, watching films, playing video games in the arcade and scoffing fish and chips x

Went home about level but a degen few days and very fun. I remember banking £1200 into Nationwide thinking i was freerolling the rest of week.  Had a few notes profit under a hundred once home and had easily had £500 of cocktails and food so a free week.

Could have been profitable were it not for wolf run and roulette spunk off...
