Do they have anything in France yet to help you similar to gamstop here in the UK.

Just something to give you a helping hand

That's a shame, but considering there is nothing like that I think you've done pretty well stopping for as long as you did.

The odd blip is probably inevitable, but I don't think you will go back to how you were at the start. I think you've learned too much.

As others have said support will always be here for you. None of us have a magic wand, but we can listen

I'm not saying I'm in control but I'm not gambling as I used to do trying to recoup my previous losses

I bet small because I know gambling is a losing game

What I want is to quit forever. It's my plan even though it's a hard battle I can win

You can only deal with it one day at a time.   You know what you want to achieve  and need to keep that as your priority.  The past has shown you that you can go without gambling  and the key is when you have a break out then have a control to stop it costing you a lot of money,  If that control is a release valve that means you only bet small just to scratch the itch ( this is something I now  use myself)   and it helps your long term well being then use it.

I'll have a break from gambling starting today !!

It's not because I've been losing much money. It's because I feel like giving free money to the casino ...

Day 1

You choose to take a break.

Remember that choice is powerful. You have a choice and this is yours.

It is important to remind yourself about why you have chosen to take this break every time that devil on your shoulder tells you differently.

You chose not to give your money to the laptop or machine with an electric plug and flashing lights.

In the cold light of day you will feel stronger for embracing your choice.

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

You can do this, you choose to.

Keep strong ♥️

I wanted to let you know that I've successfully abstained from online casino betting for over seven months now. I haven't placed a single wager.

Thank you for your support as I continue on this journey towards healthier habits and financial responsibility.

Remember always --- you stand alone . your financial decisions must be made with wisdom , and although the gambling world is treacherous ,the treachery is mainly through self inflicted financial wounds and their impact on our days , our minds , and those we love .  Love your life and fill it with people . Make people the centre of your world and gambling will no longer dominate your thoughts .

I gamble on horses only , Losing one day , winning the next and am very strict how much I spend . There are sharks out there ,especially online slots , so beware .

Live in the moment , enjoy every aspect of Life .

Good for you @Antonin It was my 40th birthday yesterday and although I gamble far less these days, the thoughts and the financial burden still live with me. I'm going to see how long I can go without placing a wager into my 40's. I'd be so so happy if I manage anywhere near as long as you have.

All the best with this mate! I think the majority of us would love a happier life if we took a big break from wagering.

I've taken breaks intermittently for years. Not had a bet for a year or so now, but no doubt I will in the future. You certainly don't miss the feeling you get after a big loss.

Antonin has done incredibly well as if you didn't know he's from France and they have no gambling protection over there such as gamstop so he's done it by good old fashioned will power

@Antonin

Good news fella and I for one fully respect your honesty, when you have tripped up and fell you've always returned and and gave us the update which I find pretty honourable of you,  giving up ANY addiction is rarely a smooth road and can catch out the best of people, temptation can land without warning BUT resisting can develop into a superpower.

Some of us on the site including myself are also on the same journey as yourself, the last bet I had was back on 20th June last year and I've always been a firm believer that recovery changes dramatically ''IF'' you can pass the one year marker,  can't really explain why BUT this time attempt for me ''attempt No-2092'' has been strangely easy!  possibly an age thing now BUT reaching & passing that one year clean marker will be a fantastic personal goal.

I still remember a fella saying to me a few years ago that you need to take many roads of failure,  to reach the road of success.

Very very true as I fell and failed many many times when I tried giving up smoking,  completed spells of 4 or 5 months many times but for some daft reason something would trigger me and I would be back holding and smoking a cigarette again, BUT I stuck with it and gave up back on 27th August 2012 and have never smoked since, even had a few mates that would joke Id be back on them soon ''like in the past'' but after a few years the joking turned into respect, those mates still smoke and I've been 100% clean 12 years this August.

A few pals would always say ...........How the FECK can you have the willpower for giving up smoking, BUT not for giving up gambling ?   I just never had the answer for that,  gambling for many of us can often provide another escape, the GO TO habit that takes our mind away from other SHIT!

Did you ever get the new bike you spoke about ?   getting out just for a decent long walk OR sticking in a few miles on the bike can be a great way of getting the mind AWAY from thinking about gambling, that time away can just recalibrate your thoughts.

But PLEASE stick with it, you are still a very young fella and sticking it out will provide you with a better life with better rewards.

Take Care.

The world of gambling is all about sensory and mental excitement , fuelled by emotion ,and the need to satisfy a never-ending boredom that comes from the lack of purpose that is ubiquitous in our society .  Those who have pastimes ,gardening , sports, etc have a flutter occasionally enjoy a gamble and have no problem with the minimal losses . Further most of our society is troubled by extreme anxiety because of malignant self serving politicians who promise much and only deliver to the rich , discarding the majority and consigning truth to the dustbin.

We must do better , be better , and don't let the Gambling firms dictate our pleasures at their price .  THE PRICE IS TOO HIGH . Self esteem and respect needs to be returned to the individual .

Gambling firms have no integrity any more.

They are just greedy big business's now and spend more time looking at ways not to pay than treat their customers fairly.
