Symbol
I've almost completed my first day smoke free and finding it really tough cos I'm anxious and edgy so it's hard to do/think about other things. I'm determined to stay motivated this time so I might try get an early night and consider this single day a victory. Is anyone else thinking of quitting smoking or succeeded in doing so? Or it could be any other vice, are you staying motivated? If so how?? Good luck all

howfin
Ive smoked since i was 16. Tried every few years to stop. Longest i went was 6 months. Essentially ive given up, i just enjoy it too much. Obviously its a good idea to stop so deffo try vaping to ease the pain. Going cold turkey is brutal. Though if you cant do it, or can go without, dont bother vaping, as itll keep you in the habbit. Try join the gym or something. As you say, its common for people to pile on the pounds quitting so dont let that happen. Be proactive and find something else for your hands to do other than the hand to mouth. Perhaps a giant wank, anything you enjoy really. Theres really good services in pharmacies in the UK you can look into as well.. if youre in the UK ofc. They basically track your progress every few days and some other shite like advice and other bullshit. Good for accountability. 1
Garryboy001
Whenever I had a bad craving I'd go a 10-15 min walk and also drink water. Worked well for me
Jok3st3r
I smoked for over 20 years, stopped over 5 months now..... never, ever, ever thought I'd do it..... I guess I shouldn't say I've done it because I could easily have one still now. Vaping helped and slowly stopping that now too. Definately got to be in the right mind set or no point trying imo.

Same as anything. You have to want to do it otherwise it's pointless

Player1173
I quit 11 years ago, and weed a year before that. Best thing I ever did. Put on abit of weight to begin with, as found myself snacking more to deal with the cravings, however lost it after a while. Best of luck with it all. Think of all that extra cash in your back pocket now! 1

green2711
I've tried numerous times. My last attempt I got a free vape from Andy over at BIAM within 2 weeks it suddenly stopped working... decided to splash out on a new vape after that paid £60 and the first time I changed the coil and tried to take a toke it started going off like a flamethrower... had to put it down and watch it burn its self out. I got fed up after that as I've had no luck with vapes and its not the first time it's happened... I've had over 5 vapes now and they've managed to devolop a fault each time and end up in the bin. They say vaping is cheaper than smoking but that hasn't been my experience.

Im certainly not anti smoking now cos i still love the smell of fags. In time you might find one you like but if you don't there are worse things you can do in life. Bangers
Was a smoke for about 28-30 years and had many failed quit attempts but quit for good back on 27th Aug 2012 and have never looked back, just went full cold turkey and got right into fitness, the fitness was like taking out Insurance, wasn't easy but the one years marker was good, before that i had only ever managed about 6-7 months and would end up returning but PLEASE try and stick with it as it can be done. My Mum was a heavy smoker and she's been off them too about 12-13 years Smoking catches up with EVERYONE and can be a nasty NASTY end to Yur life, I know a guy who lost both his legs from smoking and even today he's still smoking, evil EVIL things that really are a total waste of money. Just take each day as they come but trust me, Passing that one year mark and you are as good as home.
