You tend to get picked off fairly easily when you start playing out of your comfort zone

Yeah I noticed and the higher the stakes the more people tend to get out of line was also my experience. Defintely gets the adreneline going though ??

this isnt a bad beat, but about 2007 ish I was playing on party poker and won a few dollars on a freeroll, anyway I ended up on this amazing run of cards where i got upto about $10k and found myself sitting on either the 100/200 or 150/300 (my memory is a bit hazy about which one, it was the early hours in the morning and id spent nearly 24 hours on that gambling rollercoaster) limit table. needless to say i spunked the lot back to someone, but what a run that was, was pretty much non stop action for 24 hours straight. Back then the 2/4 or 3/6 tables was my norm

I had a mate really into his poker back then too, and he was watching me spunk it all away on that limit table.Literally I was only on the table for about 10-12 hands and I had lost nearly $10k bluffing (basically the way I had very luckily got it up from $20)

We used to play the $109 MTT on party poker that started at midnight back then, first prize was anything between 6.5-8k, and I saw him come 1st 1st and 2nd in 3 consecutive nights! I made the FT a couple of times, but usually went out on a bluff

My worst one, about 12 years ago now but was still actually my biggest poker win. I satelited into some big Sunday tourney on Will Hill. I got through to final table and am 2nd in chips. 9th place paid in excess of $3000. Im looking at the ladder and confident I might win a substantial amount. Im small blind, and folded round to me I got KK. I raise and big blind, who is the only player with more chips than me, calls. Flop is rainbow K 9 4. I bet he insta raises ALL IN!!. I dont know for sure but think we both had in excess of 100 big blinds. I actually had to think before I called even though it was a dream scenario. He turns over A-3.....turn came 2 and river a 5  ?. To say I was shocked is unreal, but even the chat was going ballistic. Apparently this person had just been going all in most of the time and getting very lucky. I didnt hang around to see who won, and though as I say it was my biigest actual cash in poker, I still think of what might have been.

And there is another from William Hill. They used to have (might still do) a 'jackpot' game. Idea being if you win 4 consecutive games you win the jackpot. My $2.40 jackpot was $2k. 3 wins, and down to me against another guy in the 4th game, who has 80 chips. Now, this is the one and only time I seriously considered poker fixed. Cos that guy with 80 chips (I had 11920) double, doubled again, and again, and again. And at least 3 of the hands I dominated him  for example AK v AQ. Anyhow he came back from those 80 chips to beat me and stop me winning the jackpot ?

3 really stick with me, two id say are bad beats, one just unlucky i guess.

Playing a cash game i hit ace high flush, only thing that could beat me was a straight flush and he had to have 8 5 suited i think which i didnt expect him to have kept playing after the flop. I go all in and of course he had it, cost me about 500.

Then i was playing a tourney at a casino, 150 runners and only top 10 got paid. I was sitting 3rd in chips with about 13 left and had 99 in small blind, i push just to take the blinds and walk into aces. Lost the pot and most my chips and went out 11th.

Last one is the worst. 1 dollar rebuy on stars, im sure there was about 15000 entrants. I got down to the final 4, 3 of us on about 30 million and one guy on 150 mill. Im dealt AK and go all in, one guy on similar stack calls with 78. I hit an ace on the flop and he hit 7 then 8 on turn then river. That fucking hurt!!!  Picked up 5k but it was about a 2k money jump to third and 15k for first. This was 9 years ago and remember it so clearly.

Ive gamstopped now but i gave up on stars once they introduced the casino as i always spunked my money on there before i played any poker so was pointless.

Mine was getting beat with a straight flush, obviously on pokerstars.

Was playing limit at the time so could have been worse, but was so obviously set up

Ditto! On Pokerstars as well?

The last 4 tournaments I've played at the pub. I've hit trips 4's 5's 8's on three occasions all on flop. The 5's and 8's lost to straights. The 4's i had my opponent hit trips on the flop with three 8's. Other tournament hit straight with AK going all in on the turn against Q10. River a Q to give opponent full house ?‍♂️. What can you do.

I had the two biggest bad beats of my 10 years poker career in my memory. The first one when I lost with a nut flush to a straight flush. The second one was quads of kings to a royal flush, actually, that was the worst one as I lost 6k dollars in that night.

Not a bad beat story as such, more of a kick in the dick.

Turned a royal flush in my local casino; current jackpot was 14k so im buzzing (stuck for around 3k in the game).

Won the hand (obvs) then the casino manager informs me that the jackpot had been won the night before by another regular (turned out it was my brother) so it had been reset at £500.

So i turne a royal flush, won the casino jackpot and was still 2.5k down for the game which tilted me massivley.

I made the final table during the sky poker two day event £220 buy in, £11,000 first prize.

Won plenty of £100 - £200 buy Ins where biggest pay day has been £5,500

I don't play for big stakes on line as I'm full sure you're playing against computer & here's why.

A few years ago I had just won a hand so now had £601 dollar's playing in a cash game.

The very next hand I flopped trips where I had the pair in my hand,

Made my full house , I could see there was a diamond run & considered did opponent have a straight run flush after putting me all in.

I had to call & sure enough my $601 disappeared just like that against a 8 to Q of diamonds.

I've played live cash games for about 36hrs (not quite made 2 whole days) where in that time you'd never see two hands colliding like that,

So for me on line is just for small buy ins.

Sky poker then sent me upto Alleia casino in Glasgow where I had to wear stick on sky poker badge

I took an early bath on first day as my KK walked into AA.

I can & have laid down many a full house when I know I'm behind,

But pre flop you hope your up against AK when someone going eventually all in against your KK.

AK is the most over rated pre flop hand,

I may have laid down QQ , But not KK.
