Marky147 Posted June 20, 2019 Share Posted June 20, 2019 Doing this for another forum I post on, so thought I would crosspost it here, and if it amuses one person that's good enough Flying out to Vegas in the morning, and staying until 10th July. Bit of background for 99% of forumites who don't know me... Played cardgames as a child, whist, rummy, and stud. This was all down to my granny who was bang into her games when she was alive. Usual pub games once old enough, shoot, 3 card / 7 card / 9 card brag etc. Joined the Navy from school, and didn't really play anything until I left in 2003, and discovered texas holdem when I was doing some work for my old man at his offices. Started roofing in 2004, won some money at Xmas and didn't fancy climbing around on top of buildings in January, and that was the last I did of that. Played f/t until I got MS in 2009 and the Dr told me to get a proper job. Kept pottering about, but didn't really play any amount, other than punting in Vegas during the summers. My drinking is about as good as my walking nowadays, so I'm having a proper punt at some comps this year, and going to try nicking a few quid. Get to the hotel, which has a beefeater attached, and by the time I've finished fucking about in the lobby getting the rooms, it's shut. Get to reception and give name. Woman says one room, to which I reply that I've booked two. One double, one spaz. Asks me to sign for room, and it shows one room invoice, and I've already paid for both anyway. English is about as much use as my walking, so I can see things are going to go sideways quite quickly here. She's telling me there is only one room booked, and I'm showing her an email with 2 rooms booked/paid for in March, and a reservation code. Ten minutes later we have 2 rooms, but now can't get any fucking food. Beefeater adjoining the hotel says 11pm on the site. Old man bowls in at 22:15 and they're not serving. Yeah, we shut at eleven but not serving now. Marky147 Posted June 22, 2019 Author Share Posted June 22, 2019 Made it in one piece, and arrived at the Aria around 5pm Friday evening. It's really rammed this weekend for some reason, and the hotel was fully sold out until Monday. Was supposed to end up with a room on the 9th floor looking at vents, so waved $50 at the checkin girl, and said if she could tip-tap that keyboard so someone else onto the 9th and find me something higher, I'd much appreciate it. Amazing how even a full hotel has a few rooms, and 30 seconds later she had called one of the managers and I was on the 21st floor, with a late checkout next friday With the first win of the trip under my belt, got settled into the room, and then went down to get some food and just have a mooch around the casino. Bit of pizza, and $200 into the Buffalo later, it was 1am and I sacked it off having managed to keep myself up late enough to avoid jetlag. Was going to go and sort out my tickets for the comps I bought into before coming out, but remembered that it was Day 1b of the 'Monster Stack', which will have about 5000 runners and the place will be even more of a zoo than normal. The Rio comp final tables will be streamed on PokerGO, which is $10 a month. Again, you might be able to find someone streaming it on Twitch. Sounds like I did the right thing, as two of them were still up playing craps at 4am, whilst telling all present they were a couple, lol. Slept in a bit late today, so gonna miss the first few fights of the Charlo card at Mandalay Bay. Chipped up to 25k from 20k starting without anything really happening, and then pick up Kh Kd Make it 600 playing 100/200/200 utg. MP1 flats and MP2 playing the first hand since I sat down makes it 2.5k. Folds back to me, and I make it 7.5k which he flats after some thought with 9k back. 16.1k in the pot, and flop is 5s 7c Ac: Given I'd not seen him play a hand, I'd put him on a pretty strong range, discounting AK as I'd expect that to go in pre, and worse aces to be in the muck. I don't think I should c/f, so bet out 9k and he obv snaps me off with Ad 5d Whoops, made a mess of that. I'm not sure if c/c is better, and think it would be better line if I had Kc That leaves me with just under 10k, and I don't really play any pots until I reshove 7k to a 1k utg+2 open @ 200/400/400 and KK<AQ.
