howfin
Celtic made history today securing the 'treble' treble at Hampden Park. One club. Three seasons. Nine trophies. Celtic have secured an historic Treble Treble, completing a clean sweep of the domestic trophies for the third season in a row. Today’s 2-1 victory over Hearts in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden, courtesy of a double from Odsonne Edouard, created football history. The incredible Treble Treble success began on August 7, 2016 with a 2-1 victory over Hearts at Tynecastle, and was completed today with another win over the same opposition. Celtic have played 141 games in their Treble Treble run, winning 112, drawing 20 and losing just nine. The Hoops have scored 339 goals, while only conceding 82. It was James Forrest who netted the first of those goals back in 2016, while it was Edouard who scored the last goal today at Hampden. Season 2016/17 was the Invincible Treble, as Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side went through the entire domestic campaign without defeat, drawing just four of their 47 competitive games. They defeated Aberdeen in both cup finals, with Tom Rogic netting a dramatic last-gasp winner in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden. The following season, the Hoops replicated their treble success, securing the league title with an emphatic 5-0 demolition derby over Rangers at Paradise. In the two cup finals, Motherwell were the opposition and, again, Celtic came out on top on both occasions. Now, the team has done it again. The League Cup was secured back in December, when Ryan Christie scored the only goal of the final against Aberdeen. With Neil Lennon taking over at the end of February, he guided the team to another title triumph – the club’s eighth-in-a-row – with a 3-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie confirming Celtic as the finest team in Scotland yet again. And the Irishman, having seen off Hibernian and Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup, has led the team to glory at Hampden today. Celtic are the Treble Treble winners and Glasgow, as always, is green and white.
