Ballsdeep
Hi all, just a curious question as last night I was faced with a gamblers favourite challenge GREED. Deposited £66 on sky vegas, on slots starting stakes 40p. Hit a few bonuses and upped it to 80p, then before I know It the balance is at £300. So thought fuck it my luck is in I'll up it even more to £2 stakes tops. The high point of the balance ended up being £500. I have a very brief and instant thought of ohh that's great I should cash out. But because I had the high buzz of being so involved in playing and winning in the slots I quickly continued. Still playing at the £2 stake. And as I started to lose and the balance decreasing rapidly I was then too involved and invested in playing the slots to even consider cutting my losses. (I consider that the high point of your balance whatever you deposit is yours to keep) So in the end all I kept thinking was I just want to get the balance close to that £500 again (the high point). Always the case though that the balance went to £0 and I felt so low with greed/frustrated afterwards I couldn't take it. So I'm thinking because I'm someone when in the zone with slots i don't know when to cashout /stop at a high point, basically through greed. Think it's best to just continue with footy bets and stop playing slots altogether. Appreciate any feedback, guidance guys/girls
Rocknrolla
Hey mate, Hindsight in gambling shouldnt really exist as its impossible at the time to know your at your peak. Some people have a rule when they double their deposit they'll withdraw their initial deposit and play with the rest and repeat that process until a bust or have a target in mind when you do deposit and leave if you hit it. There are loads of little things you can do but ultimately I think you're right with your last statement 1
lucy_tgc
Do you only use skybet? because i know on there you can self excluded from the vegas, casino, poker and bingo sections separately and just keep your sports betting/sky bet open. Just click the responsible gambling in the menu then click self exclusion then click separately and choose what you want to do. Hope this helps Edited May 3, 2019 by lucy_tgc 1
david1111
@Ballsdeep Greed is the downfall of most gamblers. Its in our make up to always want more. Its so very difficult to stop when you consider that you luck is in and then inevitably you end us chasing the high point which is what happened to you. I dont know how old you are but as you get older and wiser you tend to take profit when its there as it doesn't come along that often. One of them things that you will put down to experience and learn from. 1
Ballsdeep
I'm 30 years young @david1111... Yeah i definitely get what you're saying @Rocknrollait's impossible to know when the high point is. But yeah greed has a massive part to play and ultimately defines us as gamblers. I do enjoy playing slots but theirs a very fine almost invisible line between enjoying and chasing. So I think your suggestion is a good option @lucy_tgc I thought if you self exclude it would be from their whole site and not just slots, so I'll definitely do that. I'll stick to them punty footy bets as that's a far more controlled, fun gambling experience. Thanks guys/girls

Hills also do similar which they call product blocking
Blampy
I've self excluded from all places I can play slots because I found myself in the same position as you described in the original post many times. Lucy is correct about skybet cuz I've done it myself, Bet365 do it too and now just throw my peanuts away on footy and nags 1
Markymark
I had a gambling mate who once said to me, 'there's not enough money printed in the world that I would be happy winning' its just who we are mate. Great advice from the guys above. All I can add is set lose limits and win limits, if his doesn't work you need to self exclude. 1
MrUKHackz
I know what you mean, I don't do it too much anymore as I've learnt my lesson but I still do it occasionally. I remember posting a thread on here recently where I'd got up to £500 on Casumo and then lost the bloody lot, down to a few quid I backed the suited tie with my last money and it come in first time and put me back to £500, the buzz I got from that was far superior to when I won it the first time a few hours before! Maybe our brain remembers that and wants that endorphin rush? Either way, we all have our vices and I don't mind that mine is being a gambler, you'll never meet a more generous bunch of people imo. 1
Ballsdeep
Yeah you all seem like a top bunch so far, so it can only go down hill from here lessons are their to be learned cliché lol. I suppose some have a higher price to pay. Anyways hoping to get back on the footy bet train Saturday and have a good ol punt, feel my heart rate go up and down as the 90 minutes nears it's end. Can't beat that Saturday accumulator buzz if your bet is close to coming in
Ballsdeep
So I'm on a massive low today... As I'm in self destruct mode.. Deposited and lost another £200 playing the same slot I lost the £500 on a couple days ago.. I'm struggling as I can't stop thinking about playing. I don't know what to do. I'm in a terrible position financially and the last couple days have pushed me over the edge threw greed and losing my mind to slots. I know the best thing to do is quit but I'm so addicted. It's so sad. My life outside of gambling is non existent (and no I'm not one of those who can magically improve it) FUCK SAKES!!!!!!

Just self exclude or time out before you deposit again. It's the only way as the mood you are in it cannot end well. I know it's incredibly hard and the urge to chase is great ,but , it rarely works and it's financially destructive. Ballsdeep
It's fucking frustrating, I do the same every time What makes it worse is I was going to do the 13:50pm horse race as sky offered money back up to £20 if finishes 2nd or 3rd. Had the horse I was going to back but I just couldn't stop playing the slot. Balance went to £0 and just checked the horse and I would have won at 9/1 Would of put £20 on so I feel I've now lost another £200.. I'm massively fucked off

I'm massively fucked off I’ll have to agree with @david1111 - please take a break for a bit. Watch some nice streamers online instead, people like me which lose alot too. I’ve heard too many times my bad losing streak actually really helps people because they are put off because of it. Or just go do an hobby of yourself with some friends maybe, just to have some distraction. It should do you good probably. And don’t forget matey: when the fun stops, STOP.

It's horrendous, but it is unfortunately all part of gambling
Ballsdeep
I would love to just bet on the footy but my mind says different.
o0ORyaanO0o
Feel your pain mate, I used to think right, I’ll get to a target, say £500 and then cashout regardless, spin down to £500 but then think fuck it, another £50 worth of spins, then fuck it, go down to £400, that cycle never stopped for me. The worst was winning on football bets and then switching straight to casino games with the winnings, I self excluded to games and casino on my online accounts, so winnings could be withdrawn without that temptation

The craving to bet seems all the more after a losing session than a winning one. Pleases sign up to a 7 day lock out now as @lucy_tgc says. Everything will still be there in 7 days. 1
philinvicta
Manys a time I have been in a betting shop with something I fancy and a few quid to back it yet I have a play on other bets to get a bigger stake to back the one I fancy and then end up with nothing to back it or have only enough to back it hoping it wins so that I can get back to evens. There are always other races and there will still be big wins to be won in the future but if you have problems with slots then give yourself a longer ban on just the slots

e_abrams
You're probably right but at the same time people's greed is often stronger than their common sense, it's just human nature.
Mrs love
Completely agree with Lucy, take a short break at least and set deposit limits for more peace of mind. Sounds like you need a distraction as well, gaming helps me although not for everyone. Maybe bring back an old hobby or something? back to lurk mode i go :)
Ballsdeep
Ahhhh.. Had a £10 balance this morning.. Went on a slot got it up to £80... And yet again I just couldn't stop playing.. And the balance went to £0... My mind is so fixated on playing slots even when I lose and win. If you cut off the addiction what is there to replace the buzz?
