What a year that was, Soul destroying

I am glad I have managed to knock it mostly on the head compared to how I used to bet.   I still get pissed off when I get a bad ride with my fiver on but it is a lot easier to shake it off.   When people hear me cursing the fudgers for a bad ride they must think I have grands  on and not 2 quid win.

Nothing worse than a  run of results against you and the reel sick feeling in the stomach and wishing you had stayed in bed that day.

Yeh Phil that stake is plenty, a fun interest bet

I do admire a gambler that is firmly in control,  he or she has good discipline.

Agree 100%

When I used to do football coupons, I lost count of the amount of times I would put a few games on and then say "thats it for the weekend". Every fucking week I would acidently pick an early start game and when it didn't go my way, would be scrambling to get away from the Mrs so I could redo my coupons (and drop a shit load in the FOBT at the same time). Glad that is behind me now.

I still bet heavy on the NFL but I have a keen interest in it and stick to a strict budget

I just don't have the balls now for any decent sized stake bet / bets

When I walk through any High Streets that have bookies they don't mean anything now,  Id struggle walking past a shop up until June last year, could never resist a few games of Spartacus or Rainbow Riches before I put on my horse, or after.

I walk past about 5 shops in my local town where I live most days, all easy 2glance in and it's the same people standing that were standing when I was a regular.

Glorious Goodwood was on not long ago, was one of my favourite flat meetings, never watched a single race and couldn't tell you a single horse that won.

Few mates are still adamant I'm still gambling but just mega secret about it,  I was a little disappointed in them having that view Cos if I did return Id be man enough to say,  same with on here.

All You can do Andy is just ''TRY'' and be careful,  and ''TRY'' be as disciplined! as possible, only you'll know the true depths on what you can or can't afford 2-Lose.

It's just another Industry that's changed so much over the years, some good points, some bad.

It feels good being OUT and AWAY  from it all,  a lot less stress, No lows from rolling the dice ...... And Losing, AGAIN!

This attempt has been strangely easy,  I can't explain why that is, very possibly just an age thing now.

I tend to find I have one or two "blips" a year where things get out of control but I have a lot of blockers in place to prevent it from happening.

There is no where in the UK where I can play online apart from Lottomart and have very strict limits in place. Landbased casinos are trickier but my local one closed so if the Mrs goes to bed early, i just jump on the PS5 instead.

Hardest for me is when I am away with work (usually one or two nights a week) so I am carfeul with accomodation locations. I also don't carry cash when going away (just credit cards) and weirdly I carry two gold sovereigns as I know that if I need cash, I can always take them to a jewellers and get spot price but im never going to do that just so I can play in a casino

Least you have identified you're own personal issues and weaknesses,  and took action.

Fair play fella, fair play.

Pisses me off if i am honest mate - quite controlled in all aspects of life but when it comes to gambling it escalates very very quickly.

Was watching a video the other night about a small private car dealers, one of the owners saying how cash is now not king. he did have some valid points on him having to travel to the bank and deposit the cash, then saying about bank charges etc.

But those charges are inflicted by the Bank, that's nothing to do with a cash paying customer,  I just feel people should pay how they want, whatever suits you.

I was getting sick of standing in some bookmakers getting asked daft questions,  questions they only asked if I went back in for a payout.

Can't be arsed with all that shit.

Not sure if anyone has seen anything of kempton tonight but James fanshawe had a runner in the 20.10 called heathcliff and one in the 20.45 called al ameen both horses could have easily won easily but both times the jockey dropped them to the back until a furlong out before them coming home like a rocket to narrowly lose out both times. Will be interesting what the handicapper gives them going forward because both could win very well next time out with better rides.

Completely forgot about this horse until I saw him come up in my tracker running in the 20.15 at Newcastle tonight. Ended up winning at 6/1. The other horse Al Ameen runs at Southwell on the 26th so will be interesting to see how that does.

Hamilton park is literally next door to me and the rain has been pissing down. Ole Blacko is going for top man George Boughey mount Mr Alan who will appreciate the soft ground.

Mick Easterby just said live on itv Yorkshire Lady would win tonight at Hamilton and it’s went from 3/1 to 6/4 in about 2 minutes. Not even sure he knew he was still on air 😂😂
