Couldnt contemplate the placepot at lingfield, no chance of doubling up. Could have covered every runner but by my workings out it would need to pay £192 to break even. Done Catterick and Fontwell, still in both. Will post up if gets exciting at all. Looking at tonights now

I worked it out and left it alone in the end, only now getting in and missed Kempton too. Good luck 1p ?

Try some tomorrow

Not been following the racing too closelyrecently as not betting, but lingfield looks a farce. Wonder how long the boycott will go on for

It was supposed to have ended, but they are blaming the lack of revenue on fobt's, pathetic, how did they manage before the machines come in to rape punters? Betting firms make millions yet only plough a very low % back in, thats what the problem is.

The fobts effect the likes of ARC because they have increased prize money a lot based on the money they are receiving from media rights.  The media rights is the money they get from SIS and TRP who sell pictures to the betting shops and then pass on to the track owners .  Because of the fobts  profits (estimated at 1.5bn) the betting  industry has  more shops  than they need because of the restrictions on the number of machines permitted in each shop.  For each of these shops they have Racing pictures and so pay media rights .  there are around 8500 shops in the UK  and now due to the fobt restricted stakes around 3000 of these will likely close.   Also in Ireland the  betting tax has doubled (they do not allow fobt)  and so a lot of shops will close there.   The cost of pictures to each shop is around 50k per year so if 3000 shops close that is around  150 million a year being lost,  this is what the racing needs to wake up to.   Also ARC say over 500 shops have closed  since they signed their contracts which means they are already getting less income.  Other courses had a clause that their income would not reduce until 1000 shops had closed so they will be hit hard very soon.

Also back in the day there were as many as 16000 betting shops in the UK and most betting back then was on horses and greyhounds , most football betting was on the pools,  look what betting on football in betting shops has done to that (when was the last time you did the football pools)  ironically this was where Sangster got his money with which to buy all those horses.  The main source of income for racing was through the levy and to some degree the tote.  The racing industry were the ones wanting media rights to compensate for the fall in Levy income  as  shops were closing and betting turnover was falling on racing due to the bookies offering betting on a lot more products.

Also you had to pay tax on bets ( I can remember 10 per cent)  either on the return or some bookies would allow you to "pay on " the stake . The tax was actually collectable on the winnings but bookies allowed you to pay on as most punters were losers so this increased their profits.  The only place this did not apply was on course so some people who were having big bets would go racing on course to specifically avoid paying the tax as it was cheaper to go racing than pay the tax

Gonna have a quick look at Southwell, but put £3 on the darts/rugby tonight for interest, down first game last week so aim to improve...

Rob Cross,  James Wade,  Gerwyn Price to win,  MVG to win & most 180's,  Castleford +8 in the rugby league tonight  brings in £141 and change  Keeeeeeemon!!

Its hard to know what to expect from Cromwell and Love Your Work, considering both are debuting on sand and higher in the weights and also had nearly 5 months off. Dolly won the last twice here in pretty god fashion and runsfrom the same mark as last time. Going balls deep i think

not like to do an odds on shot, but Dolly should be tough to beat

Sick of hearing the pundits on sky racing still blaming the fobts for the current situation and saying a lot of shops will have to close.

I know we've said it all before but these shops only popped up to get around the restriction of the number of machines allowed in one shop.

So what if they have to close. Who needs 4  or 5  William hill's or Ladbrokes in a small town centre.

Ridiculous

totally agree, they will put a lot of them in offices anyway as the online side of the business booms and they still make hundreds of millions!  C'mon mug punters, your not losing enough, we want to take you for everything you have,  else some people will lose their jobs. Shops can still stay open if they used their imagination surely, that's how things progress. put your thinking caps on guys, don't blame the punters as you can't make as much money as you once did.

Tonight's selections Thursday 7th March 2019

HORSES
17:30 Wincanton - Midnight Glance (12/1)
17:55 Chelmsford - Enthaar (5/2)

Checked with Chelmsford live to ensure that the meet is still going on, as storm big is hitting essex hard over there and the fog stopped it last time.. so at this time all races are on GIK ?
