Football, General chit chat

Celtic at 1/2 is a risk free bet, essentially free money. Rangers manager clement admitted last week that there is no money available despite promises from the boardroom. A full rebuild is needed at Ibrox, players signed so far have either been poor or future investments. Brazilian Jefte was so poor against Man Utd on Saturday that fans were questioning if he had played professional football at any point. Meanwhile Celtic look stronger by the day.

That seems incredibly generous as Rangers are the only credible alternative and if as you say they are rebuilding it looks nailed on for Celtic

I notice both Paddy Power and Boylesports are 4/9    this may be due to the huge number of Celtic supporters in Ireland.  I think the only reason they are  around 1/2 is that many people do not like  betting a 1/2 shot and then waiting  for months to collect.  Mind you Paddy has a habit of early settlement for the publicity.

I wonder how much you could even get on nowadays

Well I expect @Blacko  walking in  wearing his Rangers shirt and trying to get 10k on Celtic might lead to a few phone calls !

It’s depressing times for Rangers fans, I’ve even read comments where certain supporters just want the season over before a ball is kicked. Celtics ability to buy low and sell high has been remarkable whilst Rangers end up with an overpriced shower of dross who run down their contracts before fucking off to Turkey. There is a growing gulf between the old firm. Not good for Celtic either as it’s unappealing to any aspiring player to join the SPL, Byrne days of signing legends such as Gascoigne, Laudrup, Larsson etc.. are long gone. 1/2 is money in the bank.

With the league so uncompetitive as it is if the Old Firm games are also one sided it will be bad news for the Scottish Premier League with them having very little rights incomes.

What plans do Rangers have for getting funding  to compete.  I know they have been a right mess in the last few years

Their only hope would be to join the English leagues which is highly unlikely. Two massive clubs stuck in a shit league.

Imagine the extra police costs if they were in

Don’t think it would be any different mate. Rangers played to a full house in Birmingham last night, no troubles at all.

Bookies have premier league title as a 2 horse race again.

It's difficult to argue with that as I can't see where other winners will come from.

Anyone have any fancies for the title outside the top 2

One thing i noticed is that after the Leicster win at 5000/1  that nobody is bigger than 2000/1.   One I think will go better than their price is Notts Forest but I doubt that anybody outside Man City or Arsenal will win in the end.  If Arsenal get Toney  then that might make it very close between the two.   I expect Arsenals price to get bigger as they do not have a great start to the season fixtures wise

I think he'll probably end up at Spurs, he's worried about not starting every match if he chooses Arsenal.

I do think he has too many options.  Not too many teams are interested in him which is a little surprising with his skills but  the ban did him no good.

Just looking at Toney and Brentford bought him for 5 million and he cost another 5 million in add ons.   He is on 20k a week and is talking about wanting 250k a week new contract.

All that talk about him being worth 100 million before the ban   and now talk of he will run down the last year of his contract.   Brentford could be open to a 30 or 40 million offer .

After all that crap he spoke about Brentford and deserving to be at a better club  I reckon Brentford should just cash in  and get rid after all they players they have did ok whilst he was banned and it is not as though they are challenging to win the league.

I can see him sitting out his contract looking for a pay day next year and would not be surprised to see him end up in Saudi.

Another thing I read said that he may not be the best for a settled dressing room.

Also just to show the madness of football nowadays  I see that Jhon Duran who Villa signed for 17.75 in the January 2023 transfer window   is being looked at by West Ham for 35 million and they are trebling his wages from 30k a week to 90k a week  despite having just 25 league appearances in the 18 months he was with Villa.

I also saw West ham were prepared to trade one of their best prospects  in a swap deal plus money.  looks like nothing changes at West Ham who whenever they get a good prospect look to sell them ( who can forget when they sold Cole Lampard and Ferdinand etc )

I see Leicester City's new sponsor is BC Game!

I know it is is banned from the end of  2025/26 to have front of shirt gambling sponsors which was agreed  last year but you would have thought they would have also banned any new deals from being signed and just let existing deals expire.

Normal greed applies and they decided that new deals could be signed

They are calling it a multi year lucrative partnership.

Is some press release on Leicester's website calling it a community based online cryptocurrency gaming platform.  When you look them up they say they  started in 2017  and are licensed by a recognized gaming authority,  Dig a little deeper and you find they are the usual Curacao crypto  licensee.

I see they are also Indian based,

I hope LCFC do not regret taking the money

I agree with you that new licences shouldn't have been allowed after the agreement.

In 2 years time when the ban kicks in it will be too late as the name/brand will be well and truly out there.

It might be lucrative for Leicester but you can be certain it will also be very lucrative for BC with the amount of exposure they will now get
