Hey everyone, I'm Nick

Hello everyone,

I'm Nick, 34 years old and from the Netherlands. Burnbaby used to be my name in WoW. I'm a casual gambler, preferring poker and an occasional sports bet.

The reason i'm here is that I started to work for casinos (mobilewins.uk, powerslots.com and green dog casino) and I would really like to know what players find unfair, why they gamble, if they think casinos do enough against addiction etc.

I wont post anything commercial and my boss didn't ask me to get on this forum.

I haven't ever worked for the gambling community before and i actually find a bit morally objected to do so. But I think that is mainly because i know so little about the industry and the players. So that's why I'm here: to learn and listen.

Ask me anything and thanks for having me,

Nick

Yep in a nutshell, Its an amazing melting pot of many different people from all over the World, Male and Female. That offer advice on many things that have nothing to do with Gambling. I like participating in the many competition's that are always going on, I also run my own competition from time to time. I am biased obviously but it's a great place, sometimes I don't agree with everything and sometimes toys come out of the prams, but we all kiss and make up. I joined in March 2018 when it first started but never posted until this year really, as I was under the (wrong) impression that I would not fit in and it was "clicky" I'm gutted to be honest and wish I had just posted when I joined. Some of the topics that get discussed amaze me, and as I say many and many that have nothing to do with Gambling at all. I have seen people who are obviously in distress and the Forum has rallied round and helped in whatever way they could, there is always someone on here 24/7 for a chat.

I love how we can vote each month to Charities that Paul through 21 gives money too, you can nominate a Charity as well, so all in all yep I love it here.

With 1099 posts you are sure making up for lost times ?

I already saw some posts where people offered help to other users, that is quite special indeed. I think i'll read up and contribute where I can; thanks for the info!

@burnbaby Welcome to TGC.

The principle function of this site is to encourage safe Gambling and assist those in difficulty with appropriate recognition and perspectives relating to our shared experience in the current nature of risk , in the Gambling Arena. We share our ups and downs and have a good natured poke at all the anomalies that crop up RE online casinos.  However it has to be said that most online casinos have fallen way short of ethical behaviour in the last five years, preferring to use all legislative means to circumvent a decent and honest outcome for the Punter. So if you want to know what we want -----its extremely clear:

1) No more bullshit bonuses with ludicrous wagering.

2) No more delays on withdrawals.

3) No more reduced RTP below 96%

4) No variable RTP in jackpot games.

5) No usage of legislation to prevaricate, obfuscate, abuse the online experience.

6) No lies about the true return to player.

7) Total clarity about who owns your company .

? No more spurious offers that have legal intention to restrict our rights to a fair and constructive support exchange with the casino online help desk.  No more excuses for not crediting/ paying what is obviously a legitimate outcome in any one game , recorded and proven as such.  No more lies ,and delays in conducting enquiries when software fails . No more refusals to engage on legitimate claims , when it is clear you have failed to provide proof that you are working within the law. No more closed Gambling Authorities in spurious mafia ridden enclaves.......need I go on !!!!

I am unfortunately in no position to change policy or meet those demands... But I do feel I can help players distinguish decent casinos from 'mafia ridden enclaves'! I am just putting down here from what I know, and hopefully it helps. Though I wonder if i'm telling anything new....:

1. with wagering the timeframe i feel is more important than the amount/multiplier that needs to be wagered. Play low variance slots for wagering (like starburst) since you recycle money quite fast.

2. as i said in the other post, it helps to withdraw a small amount first for the verification process. If you withdraw a large sum of money, casinos might use the id verification process time to make you still play the money (and this is lawfully within reason).

3. Always see if the casino has payout percentages of all games in the footer/about. Play games from well known developers like NetEnt, MicroGaming, NextGen to avoid slots that are less trustworthy

4. Not sure what you mean by this

5. Agreed. I can only hope the European Union comes with a single legislation soon (and UK still follows that legislation).

6. No experience with this

7. Agreed. All information about licenses, operators etc should be on the site in detail.

I've read many stories on askgamblers from players who had their account frozen etc without any information whatsoever. Can only imagine the frustration. I cannot emphasise enough how important it is that you know your rights, the origin of the casino and what institution to call on when things go sour.

This is bad advice. Players should hit the highest volatile slot that they are allowed to play if the goal is to complete wagering and come out on top.

Crap like starburst is a dream slot for a casino because if they have structured the bonus to be -EV then it's almost guaranteed the player loses.
