groundiskey
Towards the end of June 2018 I stopped drinking for two reasons, the first reason is that I was getting tired of hangovers that lasted an age and the second reason is that it interfered with my gambling, bad judgement causing me to go degenerate too often, placing silly bets, just wasting money and not enjoying it. After a couple of months without beer and gambling I was able to focus a great deal better and now had a clear plan of how to tackle what I really wanted to get out of gambling. I made a short list of the types of events / games I bet on:Sports betting: Horse racing Footy Darts Tennis Table games: Roulette (live dealer only) Slots: Danger High Voltage Then I looked into my history of wins / losses and came up with an average return, whittling down the list further ending up with the following 3 fields to bet on Horse racing, Roulette (live dealer only) and Danger High Voltage. Roulette (live dealer only) – Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. For me the best return I receive is from playing roulette, I've been working on my own game play for years and can now say that I have something that works nearly every time I play.(I'm currently in the process of making my game play into an app). Danger High Voltage – Friday (When I've hit target on roulette on Friday then I'll have a total of 75 spins, that's 25 autos at one value, then another 25 autos at the next value up and another 25 autos and the next value up again). Horse racing - Saturday's and Sunday's. My immediate plan is to be able to supplement my monthly wage then to match it and finally make my monthly wage per week. 8 months on I've still not touched a drop (Feeling better for it too). 5 2

groundiskey
cheers mate, so far this year on roulette(any live dealer table) I've found setting smaller targets works very well, consistently hitting them, once hit I stop have a break for about an hour and then return to hit the same target again, I hit target 3 times each time I play (my target is a minimum of £22.50). In all I hit target 15 times per week and receive a minimum £337.50 per week plus any horse racing wins and Danger HV wins. I'll see how long this continues then I'll work on increasing the amount of time I play roulette to gain the monthly wage per week target. 1

Remember the most pertinent story regarding roulette is that the guy who invented it committed suicide because he could not beat it !

I am more impressed with the drinking gone, than the gambling, that is so much harder to give up, as the pressures for it are all around, everywhere, unlike gambling... where at least when you go shopping, you can get away from the slots, in Tesco!! Good that you are on the SSP (small stakes plan) as well, this allows you to still enjoy the flutters, but remain, with some depth of control, over your outcomes.. Even more impressive, is the ROi that you pacing and planning, might, one day, allow you to take "play" as your job, this needs to be micro managed, at all times or all days, not just when you punt or play, if you can keep that under control, you can gradually ween yourself off the other stuff, until there is a nice 55/45% balance of save & win|spend ratios going on!! As others have voiced, especially our esteemed HMS TGC crew member @Bangers has said to a couple of others, in other lost their guts threads, gambling is a virus, if you can manage it and keep it controlled, with lower stakes and lots of other activities to suit your new life of not gambling.. it can be fun, but is always in the background, ready to infect anyone... if they do not keep taking their anti-gambling medicine.. which is a visit to TGC once a day to check in an out with your updates!! Well done!
groundiskey
Another goal was to only make 3, £100 deposits per year. Starting in August 2018 I made my first £100 deposit and aimed to hit the end of December with profit or break even. Tweaking the roulette game play throughout last year went very well I understood what my limits were without going bust and made a little profit, but then in early December i hit big on DHV). Needless to say I'm still on August's 2018's £100 deposit. So pretty chuffed. 2
david1111
@groundiskey drinking and gambling definately don't mix. You get to a stage where you don't care under the next day when the realisation kicks in. I'm glad you've found something that works for you and of course added benefit that we have you back on here

Forgot to mention, or it will not be fair, to others that do drink and cannot give it up.. I am completely tee as in teeeeee total, I can drink alcohol socially, but everyone gets bored, when we go out and they are laying on the floor after 3 bottles of red or 7 pints of export and I have drunk the same and I am STILL the same, boring me.. I drink excessive amounts of water all day/night by the way!
