All Racing suspended for at least 1 week.

fingers crossed it'll be gone before too long, if it means a week or 2 of no racing now and then be safe for Cheltenham, then its a good thing imo

So, personally I did phone the trainer as offered, they received reports on where all McCains horses have travelled and there are no match ups with any of "our" runners, however equine flu is considered to be extremely contagious and can apparently even be passed to a human and then back onto other horses (so essentially the stable staff at any given racecourse could have passed it to another horse). They would expect to see more outbreaks in the next few days which if it does happen could see racing suspended for "possibly months".

EDIT: And that is all I know. Apparently it isnt considered to be overly dangerous, just if a horse gets it, they are almost entirely out of action for a week solid.

maybe this is the thing that struck down @h0tsh0t87?

I guess this will be a good week where we can all sit together and reflect upon our choices in life.

Unless theres some Hippodrome racing going on and then im all over it

A man arrested for allegedly having sex with a miniature horse has confessed to the act and said he engages in the act 4 times a week.

..............

😂

It says he does wear a condom though, so at least he wont be on Jeremy Kyle anytime soon.

Jerry Springer on the other hand....

Just read that the vaccine uses a sample of the virus that is 15 years old and it could take years to develope a vaccine against this form of the virus

Exactly.

Quiet week or two, get everything cleared up, or at least worked out what's gone on where.

Looks like they're pretty hot on things, from Denman's letter.

Save me a few quid betting on shit racing, so I can have an assessment of my current book before the doors open again in a week or 2.

More positives at McCains yard including one that ran at Ayr.  Also another case is raising concerns in another yard

4 more cases at Simon Crisford yard in Newmarket were reported last night,    from my understanding you could get this many cases at anytime if you tested the amount of horses that they have.    I think it is much more of a worry for the general horse population which is not vaccinated like racehorses are.  One horse that was not vaccinated and not a thoroughbred had to be put down.  I also saw a stable of 9 two year olds had it as well.

Surely they have to announce the start of racing again tonight as this is hardly an epidemic of cases.  It is also hitting all of the self employed people in the industry very hard as they have no income.
