Really good weekend for me.

Had Casey / Scheffler / Homa (who we mentioned in the masters thread) Tringale and Burns in the Valspar PGA tour.

Pretty big odds, all 40+ in the top 7. Covered a bit on Keegan Bradley, but overall, top result for me (although didn't put much on)

Garrick Higgo definitely looks like a golfer who may be worth a follow this season.   He has already won 3  tournaments on the  European tour with 2 this year.  I backed him in the Canary Islands Championship.  That was part of a mini tour that qualified him into the US Open.   I expect as part of his prep he is playing in the Palmetto Championship this week  where he currently lies  3rd going in to the final round.   He is only 22 and is ranked 54 in the world.

Okay, so will post mine before first tee off (11 places with Skybet)

LONG SHOT -

Wolff (150/1) only looking for him to hit some for of a year or 2 ago, and generally have picked players who are slightly longer as the course (Torrey Pines) whilst has some nasty bits of rough, generally looks like it could favour the longer guys. Bit of a gamble at an e/w place with Wolff though.

LONGER SHOT -

Nienaber (200/1) 21 years old and recently won a decent tournament. Guy is like 6'2, weighs about as much as his driver probably, but absolutely pummels the ball. Stats so far are showing he hits it as far (or a little further) than Bryson. Hoping this guy is like Niemann / Homa in the fact you can get huge prices on them for a few months or so, before they drop down into 70/1 bracket. Be interesting to see how he goes round. Very small e/w bet.

Normal Picks - not too much explanation on these, but my fancies are Thomas, Berger and Reed. Good luck all

Wolff tied 3rd as the 2nd day finishes. Down from 150/1 to 11/1. Hopefully can stay in there for a place.

Thomas Tied 13th, Berger Tied 21st

Shame Nienaber had a poor day, only just made the cut at +4. Scheffler going well for @Fredthedog1@FreddieTheFrog

(EDIT - for some reason on phone I cant remove the name tag on the post)

Great interview with Jon  Rahm especially the bit on why he swings the way he does and has one leg shorter than the other .   Useful channel on youtube  for all the press conferences etc for the open.   I found the following of a few guys trying to qualify good as well

Today sees the start of the second major the USPGA.   One bet that stands out to me is Jordan Spieth in his 3 ball against Rory and Tiger  at around 6/4.   The course is said to  suit players who like Augusta   which all three players have form at but Spieth is also usually a fast starter and for me Tiger is way past his best and  Rory seems to be struggling with  parts of his game.

I have also backed Spieth outright  together with  Matsuyama  and Cam Smith.   If Spieth wins he will complete the career grand slam of Majors.

Also be aware because bad weather is forecast for tomorrow morning  so really you want an early starter today who will be out late tomorrow

Not sure how many other people still like a little dabble on the golf  but the bookies had some sweat yesterday  as  a few  favourites were near the top across all 3 tournaments.   In Italy  Rory and mat Fitzpatrick first and second favs were at the top going into the last round   and in the LiV  Cameron Smith and Dustin |Johnson first and second favs were at the top and on the PGA   Max Homa  the pre tournament favourite and defending champion was top .

Cameron Smith   and Max Homa both won (Max after he chipped in from off the green for a birdie  and then Danny Willett missed a 3 foot putt to win outright  and also missed the return to gift the whole lot to Max Homa).   Fitzpatrick  was leading on 17th and made a bogey  and then lost a play off to Robert McIntyre  who shot an incredible round  being 5 under after 7 holes on  a hard day  for scoring Rory having dropped away after a double bogey at the first.

I got a few quid back after doing small cross doubles and trebles  but I am sure  MCIntyre saved the bookies  a huge sum

my bet  would have netted 510 if Fitzpatrick had won as well
