Gamstop Obsolete

Recommended Posts

The inevitable happened last few days and I succumbed to the urge.

It's very frustrating as I have done everything I can to protect myself as in self exclusion and gamstop.

Unfortunately, we all know that it's very easy to find a way nowadays so really there is no longer any 100% protection for the vulnerable.

I have taken the necessary action now, but I know there is always somewhere else should the urge rear it's ugly head again.

I was thinking maybe I should go full cold turkey and have my account removed from here, but that's not really what I want as I've always stuck around as a non gambler (he says) to help other people in similar situations.

Anyway, there we are. Onwards and upwards as they say.

Hopefully you didnt do to much damage mate. Do what you think will help the best for you, even if that means you have to leave the forum for a little bit. Stay strong!

Ahhhhh feck man

I do fully understand all the lures these days and IBTH I'm a little surprised at the news,  do respect the honesty,  can I ask what triggered you ?

Totally cool if you'd rather not say.

All these TV adverts really pisses me off,  those ones that are pretty much back to back after a certain time,  they anger me, I hope it wasn't a big fall David and you got out when Yur senses kicked in, I've reminded a few pals and the odd family members just how powerful a gambling addiction can be,  me and you are not far off the same age, we've both gambled over a lot of years, that's never going to be a simple overnight fix.

All you can do mate is get back on the tracks and try again, did you go back down the mine looking for Gold or what ?

I actually can't explain what triggered me. I could just feel it coming. Felt strange.

It's left me in a bit of a difficult situation,  but I stopped when I needed to so I can still eat!!.

Yes, it was the mine 😔

Was it a new site you registered with @david1111

Would you say the weakness is slots ?   I've read you talking about the horses but you've resisted.

Hope you don't mind the Q's - Just naturally interested in what makes us tick,  behaviour etc

No I don't mind at all.

Yeah, it was a new site for me, I won't say which one although it is well known.

It's online generally really, it's just too easy and you don't see the value of money until afterwards!

I'd be quite happy going to a race meeting and having a few bets without going overboard. For me handing hard cash over is very different to just using a card online.

That's why I joined Gamstop, but as per the thread that's no longer a complete deterrant

Are you still registered at the moment with Gamstop ?

It’s easy done mate, gambling like any other addiction is a temptation that will always be there. I play slots at All British as it allows me to exclude certain slots without having to self exclude. I have a serious weakness/addiction to the 20p roulette that they have in the bookies, it’s not restricted online and it’s got me by the fucking balls. I was £1500 up one night and ended up with nowt because I cannot walk away from it. Think my brain is fucked up as I don’t feel the same about any other roulette games.

I have a weird process in which I sign up to moonpay and then delete my account as I know it takes 24 hours before it lets me deposit. All British allow me £20 a day, my sports bets are non casino related, I am good with this as I don’t tilt on sports.

I think the best strategy is to learn off @Bangers and have a strategy. I hate the fact that I’m a gambler.

I completely get that. Bonanza is my nemesis.  Once I start I literally can't stop. It's horrendous.  The only way is not to play, but easier said than done

Severe mood swings played a big part in me having another go, they start affecting other people, and the 2nd's were dissolving my Soul

But when others can see a different person it's not cool,  BIG BIG Sign things are Out Of Control

An argument with the missus is enough for me to act completely irrational. Whilst others would reach for a fag or a drink I’d be depositing a hundred notes on crypto.

Exactly. Sometimes you'll do anything just to play.

There is something to be said for uk casinos being all over you regarding how much you can spend as I could have continued playing non stop, depositing endless funds and not a word would have been said

Get that,  could be the same with Bonanza,  or Dead or Alive,  my nemesis was that FOOOOK'n Spartacus in the bookies.

Weird how certain games just keep players playing, damage after damage after damage just doesn't prevent further damage

Absolutely and yet there were people on here pissing and moaning about it. This crypto lot have fucked everything though, I could close my account, register an email address using the dugs name and I’m back in business

I was all for having the freedom to do as you please, but being in that situation where you are all alone with nothing to stop you is so dangerous

I even worry about folk having big wins or even tilting on here. I was genuinely concerned for @philinvicta after his bet for dream money went down the pan on Saturday night. I was hoping that he wouldn’t tilt as that’s probably exactly what I would have done. It’s the same with someone who ups their bet from 40p a spin to a fiver then hits a monster win.. there’s no way in this fucking Earth you’re spinning at 40p again.. you’re hooked.

I closed the last of my accounts last year,  I still get emails OR Paper junk mail through my door with my name on it,  just proves they can't or wont leave you alone

Sickens me Phil

Never regret anything . Gambling may take yesterday or today from you , but tomorrow is yours .

The stupidity of gambling is basically about cost in relation to value .   i dont gamble online . But im always there wityh a Lucky 15 or Lucky 31 and most times i lose . But its a managable risk .  Slota are a minefield of self abuse as more and more spins add up to zero ….. online it can be thouzands , but offline in the bookies its cold hard cash and you can feel the reality of loss more easily .

Dont baet yourself up david .  Learn to manage your temptations by constricting the cash to minimal amounts and have some fun .
