Blacko
Completely unacceptable, standing pissed up in the pub with debit card in wallet, recipe for disaster.

No more looking in a wallet in the morning with a hangover, counting what you have left as the damage you done gradually returns. A cashless future will be moving around digits on various screens, the tablet or phone or PC, you will hold nothing. Sean Lock once said his daughters ''THINK'' all you need is a phone to buy things, no cash, just a phone.

I wouldn’t have placed some of my stupid bets in the past if I needed to hand hard cash over

Then Id start going in with bigger and bigger stakes, I guess that's all about building confidence along with testing boundaries with certain shops, I did like one shop in particular in my local Town, built up a good relationship with 3 key members of staff, they would take all stake bets without an issue or enquiry, a few bets did have to be called in but I let them take care of that side. The good thing back then was, Id hand over the old style paper money and the bet landed Id request new money in return, all three staff never refused. I just don't like OR feel comfortable where things are heading with cashless, me and you are around the same age with you being a few years older than me, cash is all I know, I'm not comfortable suddenly now changing, pal of mine takes the piss calling me an old dinosaur using cash, he pays with his fancy watch or his phone, he loves technology, I don't, I tolerate it, cashless means EVERYTHING you do or buy will be connected to DATA! EVERYTHING! I'm not happy with that world one bit. Old notes these days are now a problem, they must go through a Bank.

philinvicta
I saw today that the gambling commission is thinking of getting banks to stop people using debit cards and credit cards to deposit to black market sites. Black market sites are mentioned on this report .https://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/news/article/westminster-media-forum-andrew-rhodes-speech This to me shows how clueless the people in charge really are. They really think that they can stop the tide of illegal websites which are only having so much success attracting punters because of the policies they themselves are implementing. It’s all bollocks Phil, they are completely oblivious of what is staring them in the face. Crypto gambling is growing by the day, depositing and playing in cyberspace anonymity is a simple process which is beyond the control of any UK regulatory body. So out of touch.
Bangers
Surely a persons credit rating must be badly affected in using a credit or debit card for gambling, or any future mortgage application. Can't help but think anyone getting involved in Crypto for the sake of a gamble isn't thinking that far ahead, it must tell your own bank a story about you. Or are all these banks turning the other cheek ?

One big problem with trying to stop this though is the transaction type / name when you deposit on one of these places is always different. It's certainly not categorised as gambling because I turned off gambling transactions on my card and yet it still lets you pay these places. Here are the last 3 transaction names on my account to one of these sites, as they appear on my statement. All to the same casino within the same week: Goriwire SP.Z.O.O Formiline UAB D-29907768 Oh and good luck with issuing those cease and desist notices. I'm sure those casinos will enjoy wiping their arses with them.
