Thanks @spursman I certainly think there are a lot of people that stop short of chasing the casinos more than they could. I shall keep you all updated regardless of the outcome

Hi @Taylor89 sorry to hear that. I’ve so far been unsuccessful with my pushing, although, I’ve now taken it to a solicitor, I had to do a bit of research as I read a fair bit of stuff about dodgy companies making absurd promises. My solicitor has taken it on now and basically what he told me is, a lot of gambling companies will pull out every excuse to avoid returning money and hope the punter basically just gives up - and they usually do as they don’t have the power of knowledge, he did say in his experience as soon as lawyers are involved then things are taken much more seriously. he did also say my case isn’t as complex as I have the self exclusion on my side, but they normally deal with cases involving 10s or hundreds of thousands so mine, although a lot of money, is substantially lower than cases they’d normally take on. I suppose your situation depends on a lot of things, were you an existing customer? How much are we talking? Over multiple casinos or just one? there is the whole covid affordability thing in place at the minute, but still it’s a bit of a grey area, perhaps the guys here can help you a bit more, but what I’d advise is before you do anything else, register on gamstop, turn on gambling controls for any debit card you own, try and put in place anything you can to stop the gambling now, if you’ve lost a lot of money in a short space of time and it’s lead you to this post/forum, you need to start by cutting your losses before you decide to do anything else. much love xx

so far I’m not really any further into getting an outcome. sun play have said they have acted responsibly and will look no further into it, I’ve requested a subject access request into how the assessed my affordability and why they didn’t block me from playing when they first contacted me asking if I was happy with my deposits. After I received that email I was allowed to deposit another 4K before I told them I had a problem. redbet have said pretty much the same, they’ve acted responsibly and followed the regulations. I’ve also asked them for an SAR, but they’re responsible gambling team have finished looking into it and basically said there’s nothing more they can do but if I want to complain then I can, which I have done. I do genuinely believe both have acted irresponsibly, since they’re regulated, they’re supposed to be protecting people, and I really don’t think they have done that. ive spoke to ibas and they said they can’t get involved with self exclusion and social responsibility matters, but if the UKGC give them any kind of penalty then they can. I think the only way I can take this forward now is via the gambling commission, and I think the new regs that were released in relation to covid, and specifically this one, e) Conduct affordability assessments for individuals picked up by existing or new thresholds and triggers which indicate consumers experiencing harm. Consider limiting or blocking further play until the checks have been concluded and supporting evidence obtained. Sun play,I’ve put in a complaint to the UKGC but I’m also waiting for the SAR (for affordability) to pass on to them, I haven’t put in a complaint re redbet yet to the UKGC and I’ll wait until my complaint can’t be taken any further with them before I do. the UKGC have said that they can’t guarantee any investigation, but all information is passed to their compliance team to asses, if they investigate, they also can’t tell me the outcome so will just have to keep an eye on publications. not really what I wanted, and a bit shit of both casinos, but no business will part with that amount of money without a fight I’m sure, will probably take forever, but I’m reasonably patient so will put it to the back of my mind and see what happens. hope you’ve all had a great Christmas

Well haven’t heard anything from either of them this week, the silence is deafening. both were quick to refuse on self exclusion but have been quiet after I quoted the new covid affordability regs, no news is good news I think, but what’s more likely is they’re cooking up an excuse to save their necks. I have asked for an update from both today, my case is still being looked into by the relevant departments. I asked which department it was and none of them would tell me, only that it’s the relevant department.

Today’s update, over the weekend I sent both an email quoting affordability and new covid regs along with the fact I’m self excluded. Today had an email from sun play stating they’re still looking into it and will continue to work towards an outcome, not heard anything from redbet yet but I contacted them on live chat and they said it’s been passed to the relevant team who are still looking into it. so I will wait and see what they say but the fact they’re looking into it again makes me a bit more optimistic. I’ve read loads of stuff on forums about people losing money and wanting it back, I really don’t want people to read this in the future and think they’re entitled to losses back because of gamblers remorse, when in reality, the casinos are a business too and as a business, making money is what they want to do, what I do think though, is that they’ve acted irresponsibly and if all the correct measures were in place, I wouldn’t have been able to deposit like I did.

I’ve looked at both ibas and ecogra and both state they don’t get involved in disputes relating to social responsibility and self exclusion matters, both of them say it’s a matter for the regulator. like I say, I’m not too bothered about getting my money back, I just feel as though both, sun play more so than redbet, have left themselves open to irresponsible players with no willpower like me. the sun play did send me an email after a night of intense playing, but they just questioned if I was happy with my level of spend, they didn’t block access and still allowed me to deposit around 5k after they raised questions.

Had an email back this afternoon basically confirming what I thought. Gamstop isn’t foolproof and because address didn’t match they’re system wasn’t able to detect it, The Gamstop API check requires more than just these details in order to make a positive identification of a self-excluded customer, otherwise all customers with the same name and birthday as a self-excludee would automatically be self-excluded by Gamstop, which would cause obvious problems in the examples of common names such as Smith, Jones, and so on I did make a point that I have an unusual name and it wouldn’t be likely that anyone else would match those details in the database and they were having none of it. so after all that I’m now not too bothered about getting my money back, but I have thought about complaining to the UKGC. I’ve had a bit of a look into it and discovered a couple of points that I could raise with them. firstly, they issued new guidance about gambling during the coronavirus pandemic, https://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/news-action-and-statistics/Statistics-and-research/Covid-19-research/Customer-interaction-–-Additional-formal-guidance-for-remote-operators-during-COVID-19-outbreak.aspx It does specifically mention about affordability checks after hitting certain triggers and thresholds, I was definitely playing for over an hour so I would of hit that trigger. secondly, they also state in their AML guidance that transactions over €2000 should be subject to AML and customer due diligence checks. This is what they say, Regardless of whether they have established a business relationship with the customer, suspect money laundering or terrorist financing, or doubt the veracity or adequacy of documents or information previously obtained for the purposes of identification or verification, casino operators must also apply CDD measures in relation to any transaction that amounts to €2,000 or more, whether the transaction is executed in a single operation or in several operations which appear to be linked. 6.10 'Transaction' consists of: • the wagering of a stake, including: o the purchase from, or exchange with, the casino of tokens for use in gambling at the casino o payment for the use of gaming machines o the deposit of funds required to take part in remote gambling, or • the collection of winnings, including the withdrawal of funds deposited to take part in remote gambling or winnings arising from the staking of such funds. so with that in mind, I was thinking about asking for a SAR, they never asked me for source of wealth, actually they didn’t ask me for anything. thoughts please, worth a complaint to the UKGC? I haven’t got a clue about any of these rules and regs so not actually sure if they’re in the wrong on those points letting me deposit so much.

Well after following @Luke_B_123 advice, have had an email this evening saying that it’s been escalated to senior management and I’ll hear back from them soon.

There’s a couple of threads about with useful info. Hot uk deals have quite a substantial thread with loads of info and updates of places getting stock in. argos and smyths are expected to drop anytime soon, if you search Ps5 on argos it doesn’t come up. But if you tap in the item codes it links you straight to the product page. 679/5199 679/5151 from there you can add them to your wish list. And from wish list you can move them straight to your trolley, install the app and save your payment details, so when they do drop you can go straight to checkout. I was invited to a private discord group that are constantly giving out updates, but I’ve never used discord and no idea how to invite. Amazon have the odd one popping up but they’re gone in an instant. Definitely a second wave due any time soon though

@Luke_B_123 this is very helpful and very valid points. I did point out to them gamstop say may, which doesn’t exhaustively rule out non matching details picked up. I definitely didn’t relate to that first point though, so I’ll pursue that avenue and see what they say

my hubby has less hair. Although he is an old fart. Really he was only ever with me because he felt sorry for me having a baby and no support. That child is now a very well mannered young man so he ain’t done too bad and I owe him a lot

@Miller26 thanks, that’s really nice of you. To be fair, I do try to do my best by everyone and do my good deeds. I will certainly stick around and keep you all updated, I have to say it’s been quite relieving coming on here and just getting it off my chest, I can’t really do it in the real world because like I say, a lot of people know me and have a high opinion of me so I have to keep my guard up

My address did match my ID though. It just didn’t match the one I had registered on gamstop because I stupidly didn’t update it when I moved. otherwise gamstop has been a good tool for me, I’ve never bothered trying to register using different details as I’m well aware what the outcome would be if I won.
