last night i am hoping we have seen the last of David Haye in a boxing ring , maybe now some will realize it takes more to be a top tier fighter than just looking like an Adonis or a male model . i follow boxing pretty big and as i look back on Hayes boxing record i really struggle to find the night he became a boxing elite , was it the night he beat Jean Marc Mormeck to win the Cruiserweight world title ?, i doubt it , what about the night he defended against Enzo Macrinelli ? i doubt that as well , how about the night he beat Nikolay Valuev to become heavyweight champ ? surely this is the night right ? well no not really , the guy was nearly 40 with zero movement and a standing target for any elusive slick boxer and as long as you dont stand right in front of the guy he is never going to get to you , oh wait , have i found the night he became elite ? must be the night he beat another hyped legend Audley Harrison yea ? the guy that never threw a punch in 3 rounds , nope not that night , so we come to it , the night Haye made us all so proud and got escalated to the heights of Ali and Lewis and Tyson , that huge night when he took on Klischko and delivered one of the poorest performances iv ever seen because he was so out-classed by a fighter levels and levels above him , yes i remember it well , do you ? point im trying to make here is that certain sports networks and various other media hype people up and its very easy to get caught up in the hysteria of it all and believe all the fairy tales they spew out when in reality these people are just average , this is without doubt what has happened over the years with David Haye , last night tony Bellew proved once again that living the life of a boxer has no shortcuts and demolished Haye in convincing fashion . won plenty when bellew beat him last time and won a nice few quid last night as well , it was all so obvious in my opinion , every now and again fights come up where the bookies have it so so wrong , last night was one of them . this is not an after-time post , i convinced all my friends to lump on Bellew and most of them were all haye supporters that had swallowed the illusion that the guy was elite when he is far from it , after days and days of me banging on they all lumped on bellew . im looking forward to my free beers next time im out :-) its time to hang up those gloves David before someone does damage that you wont walk away from .
